As it becomes clear that there's no cost in Republican circles for going at Obama hard, groups outside McCain's campaign are getting bolder.
The latest is from the Republican Party of Texas, a webad apparently attacking him for allowing a half brother (whom he's reportedly met once) to live in poverty in Kenya. At the core of Republican attacks, though, is the notion that Obama is strange or foreign, and this certainly covers that base.

This is a web video designed to rally the Republican faithful. It was produced and paid for by the Republican Party of Texas. Apparently, it's now everyone's responsibility to buy houses for half-siblings born to parents who abandoned you at a young age, whether you actually know these half-siblings or not. Weak... Again, no one's attacking John McCain for "being successful and living the American dream," but only for being so ridiculously out of touch that he doesn't even know how many houses he owns (he's got staff to count his houses). The Texas GOP has launched one of the dickiest attack ads imaginable. A British newspaper tracked down one of Barack Obama’s half brothers, who it contended was living in awful, destitute squalor. CNN interviewed the half-brother who in turn flatly refused his half-sibling’s help:
But reports surfaced in the past few days, springing from an Italian Vanity Fair article saying George Obama is living in a shack and “earning less than a dollar a day.”

The Texas Republican Party crafts a web ad, the chosen medium for such things, to purportedly ding Obama for not taking care of his destitute half-brother (yes, the one you read about via that Drudge link).
His half-brother just happens to live in, ya know, Kenya and be named George Hussein Onyango Obama -- two facts which the party helpfully points out at the end of the spot.
If' it's not the race card explicitly, it's at least the exotic card.
