RNC Candidate Distributes ‘Barack The Magic Negro’ As His Christmas Greeting
Think Progress —
Last year, Rush Limbaugh came under intense criticism for repeatedly airing a parody song called “Barack the Magic Negro” by conservative satirist Paul Shanklin. The song, which dealt with Obama’s popularity amongst white voters, was widely attacked as being racist. Doing an Al Sharpton impersonation, Shanklin sings the song to the tune of “Puff the Magic Dragon.” Limbaugh, however, tried to defend it as “creative” and “funny.” Listen to the song here:
The Hill reports that for his ...

December 27, 2008 March, 2007 - "Barack The Magic Negro" Debuted On Rush Limbaugh The MSM is appalled again. RNC candidate Chip Saltsmans sent Christmas greetings to committee members and included a music CD making fun of liberals. Titled "We Hate the USA", it includes a song called Barack the Magic Negro as well as "John Edwards Poverty Tour", "Wright Place, Wrong Time", and other goofy titles. Rush Limbaugh first played "Barack the Magic Negro" on his show almost two years ago. The song title came from LA Times op-ed piece titled "Obama, the Magic Negro". AS EVERY CARBON-BASED life form on this planet surely knows, Barack ...
No Republicans Have Condemned the "Magical Negro" CD: What Can We Learn?

Brief recap. Chip Saltsman, a Tennessee Republican who is seeking the chairmanship of the Republican National Committee, sent a CD of holiday music to committee members earlier this month. That CD contained a Rush Limbaugh song titled "Barack the Magic Negro." (Listen here.) The song is sung by a white political humorist who tries to impersonate the voice of Reverend Al Sharpton. As Sharpton, the singer complains about Obama being palatable to white people "because he's not from da hood."
Saltsman defended the song, saying it is a "light-hearted political parod[y]." That got me thinking. Has any Republican criticized Saltsman for ...
For Some, 'Puff' Loses Its Magic

The party isn’t laughing. In his campaign for chairman of the Republican National Committee, Chip Saltsman , a Tennessee political operative, distributed a song to potential supporters called “Barack the Magic Negro,” a parody that questions President-elect’s Barack Obama’s racial authenticity. The song, by the political satirist Paul Shanklin , was first broadcast last year on the Rush Limbaugh radio show, and Mr. Limbaugh defended it then against accusations of racism. But after an election in which Republicans lost badly among minorities — spurring vows of new efforts to appeal to a broader swath of the electorate — ...

Do y’all know the background story behind the “Barack The Magic Negro” parody song by writer Paul Shanklin, and played on radio by Rush Limbaugh?
The idea came from an LA Times article written during the democrat campaign season (primaries) in which a “black” writer used the term in describing Obama as such, partly due to his ability to be voted for by ‘whites’ …
The song has Shanklin pretending to be Al Sharpton singing the bitchfest about Obama getting all the attention, after years of Sharpton and Jesse Jackson hammering away in ...

Candidates for R.N.C. Chairman to Compete in Forums
The Caucus —
The race for chairman of the Republican National Committee is already shaping up to be a contentious battle between several high-profile candidates — including the current chief, Mike Duncan . But party leaders, led by Gary Emineth, chairman of the North Dakota Republican Party, have called for a special forum to allow each of the contenders to outline their visions for the future of the G.O.P., bypassing Mr. Duncan and the party organization in Washington. Mr. Emineth and nearly two dozen other R.N.C members from around the country petitioned for the forum, which will be held on Jan. 7 in Washington. It’s the first time members have gone around the ...
"Magic Negro" redux

It's baaaaack . " Barack The Magic Negro ," the parody that will not die, is back in the news, because short-sighted Tennessee Republican Chip Saltsman (yes, you've probably never heard of him but he was Mike Huckabee's campaign manager and supposedly has his eye on the RNC chairmanship) included it on a holiday CD that he distributed to members of the RNC. In case you're not familiar with Paul Shanklin's acerbic critique of Rev. Al Sharpton and the racial grievance racket that he commands, here is a portion of it. Shanklin, as "Rev. Al," sings: Barack the Magic Negro lives in D. C. The LA Times they called him that 'Cause he's not ...
