"War is Chaos"
Weekly Standard Blog —
From a most unlikely source, the BBC, comes an excellent defense of Israel's Gaza incursion. Two points stand out here. One, war is hell. It's completely unpredictable and impossible to fully choreograph. Two, by way of the first point, civilian deaths and collateral damage are unavoidable, especially when the fight is conducted exclusively on the urban terrain. As the good colonel notes below, civilian casualties benefit Hamas, not Israel -- which is precisely why the IDF has taken unprecedented steps (at considerable cost) to shield noncombatants from the fury of their offensive. ...
Shocker: Fmr. Brit Army Colonel On Israel’s Side In Gaza War
Pat Dollard | Young Americans —
A Few Gaza Notes:
The Volokh Conspiracy —
(1) A retired British colonel, on the BBC no less, says that there has been "no time in the history of warfare when an army has made more efforts to reduce civilian casualties and the deaths of innocent people than the IDF" did in Gaza. (2) I was going to do a post on the media "narrative" of the Gaza fighting, but I don't think I could do a better job than this post ...

Israel is victim of “war crimes” propaganda
Israpundit —
By Rachel Neuwirth
Most of the American and European media have accused Israel of having committed “war crimes” in its recent “assault” on Gaza, and of waging war indiscriminately on its civilian population. Israel is said to have damaged schools, hospitals, ambulances and mosques and to have inflicted an immense number of deaths and injuries on innocent civilians. The same accusations have been hurled at Israel by the United Nations, by many of the world’s governments, and by numerous pseudo-do-gooder “Non-governmental organizations” (or “NGOs”), such as Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch. The International Criminal Court in the Hague is considering whether to file ...
Richard Kemp's testimony before the 'Human Rights Council'
Israel Matzav —
Richard Kemp's testimony before the 'Human Rights Council' [image] Richard Kemp, the former commander of British forces in Afghanistan testified on Friday before the United Nations 'Human Rights Council' in Geneva in connection with the Goldstone Report. You may recall that the Goldstone Commission itself refused to hear Kemp, claiming disingenuously that it wasn't looking into how to prevent civilian casualties in crowded urban warfare. Here's what Kemp told the 'Human Rights Council' on Friday. Mr. President, I am the former commander of the British forces in Afghanistan. I served with NATO and the United Nations; commanded troops in Northern Ireland, Bosnia and ...
Friday Goldstone Collection
Solomonia —
I been collecting the links again! First, let's get this out of the way. Richard Goldstone is either the most naive or the dumbest man on the international scene today: UN body okays Goldstone Gaza report accusing Israel of war crimes ...
