Is this what it's come to?

Is this the depths to which we've sunk? That I'm actually applauding Andrew Sullivan? In all the discussion of John McCain's recently recovered memory of a religious epiphany in Vietnam, one thing has been missing. The torture that was deployed against McCain emerges in all the various accounts. It involved sleep deprivation, the withholding of medical treatment, stress positions, long-time standing, and beating. Sound familiar? According to the Bush administration's definition of torture, McCain was therefore not tortured. Cheney denies that McCain was tortured; as does Bush. So do John Yoo and David Addington ...
The sanctity of McCain's marriages (II)

As we pointed out a few days ago, McCain's years and years of philandering has made it difficult for the religionist wing of the Republican Party-- even for as big a GOP hack as James Dobson-- to endorse him (though they all will, including the hypocritical Dobson). Notice CNN refers to multiple "affairs," not to "an affair." They also point out McCain's lies and cover-ups as to ...

The BBC has a show called "Dinner with Portillo," and this week they decided it would be a good idea to take it on the road to New York and assemble a group which included me, Joe Klein and John Podhoretz.
Sort of like Pickett's charge -- seemed like a good idea at the time. ...
