Call her General Palin
AMERICAblog News| A great nation deserves the truth — Weird new talking point from the McCain campaign. They're now saying that Sarah Palin, or perhaps we should now be calling her General Palin, is "Commander in Chief" of the Alaska National Guard that is fighting in Iraq. I'm sure the governor is the de jure chief of the state's national guard, but to imply that she's somehow the equivalent of the Commander in Chief of the US military, direct Alaska's forces in the fight against Al Qaeda, running through war plans and launching rocket attacks, is just laughable. Don't take it from me. Take it from the general who runs the Alaska National Guard ...

McCain Spokesman Stumped Trying To Explain Why Palin Is Ready To Be Commander-In-Chief (VIDEO)
The Huffington Post | Full News Feed — So, I know that one of the reasons John McCain hastily chose Sarah Palin as his running-and-soul mate was because he thought that Palin would exude some general appeal to female voters, which is why she's been out on the stump talking about Hillary Clinton and the eighteen million cracks. But how's this for a little bit of the old backlash? Say you're Campbell Brown, working professional, educated newswoman. Brown, I'd bet, knows a thing or two about glass ceilings (remember this back and forth with Hillary Clinton at one of CNN's debates?). And along comes Sarah Palin, who's basically reached third on a series of throwing errors, talking about how ...

Tucker, I’m Just Gonna Give It to You Baby

Tucker Bounds flummoxed by questions about Sarah Palin
BlueOregon — I learned something interesting from the O's Jeff Mapes over the weekend: The top two mouthpieces for John McCain, communications director Jill Hazelbaker and national spokesman Tucker Bounds, are both University of Oregon alums and considered rising stars by Oregon Republicans. So, when I saw Tucker pop up on CNN yesterday, I decided to watch and see how this Oregonian would handle the tough questions of the day. And wow, was he ever flummoxed. Now, to be fair, the first rule of better marketing is "get better reality"... and his reality is a pretty ugly one. It's not entirely his fault. You see, he got the tough job of explaining how ...

For some reason
Rising Hegemon — Campbell Brown seems bitter and resentful towards GOP-Press Flacks... Wonder what would lead to such profound disappointment? Oh, yeah.

McCain Camp Explains Experience
The Great Plains Observer — Well sort of… Can Tucker Bounds ever answer a question without spinning it and given that his definition of experience requires running a corporation or a state government, wouldn’t that mean that Sarah Palin is more experienced than McCain? Related Posts

McCain Surrogates Struggle To Defend Palin's Experience
The Huffington Post | Full News Feed — There is, it seems, a dearth of effective talking points on Sarah Palin's lack of foreign policy experience. On Monday, McCain campaign spokesman Tucker Bounds went on CNN to defend the vice presidential pick, only to come up blank when asked to name one specific decision Palin has made as commander of Alaska's national guard. Democratic operatives quickly circulated the video. On Tuesday, Sen. Jon Kyl, another McCain confidante, was given his turn. And the results were equally problematic for the presumptive Republican nominee. Asked by Fox News' Chris Wallace whether Palin was "ready to be president" Kyl's response was, basically, "in time." ...

McCain loses temper, cancels Larry King interview after CNN asks spokesman to explain Palin's national security experience
AMERICAblog News| A great nation deserves the truth — Woah! Did you hear that? CNN asked a vice presidential nominee, a person who may very likely be asked to fill John McCain's shoes should he die or be incapacitated in office, someone who very may well become our next commander in chief during wartime - CNN asked a McCain spokesman what national security experience Sarah Palin has ...

Tucker Bounds' unpleasant interview
Political Animal — TUCKER BOUNDS' UNPLEASANT INTERVIEW.... The McCain campaign and leading Republican voices continue to argue that Sarah Palin's position as the putative head of the Alaskan National Guard is evidence of foreign policy experience. We already know that's not true ...

Why Misogyny as a Political Strategy Isn't Necessary (Irrespective of Its Being Shitty Strategy Just on Principle)
Shakesville — Exhibit A: CNN's Campbell Brown goes after McCain spokesman Tucker Bounds to positively hilarious effect: [Transcript below.] See, if Brown had gone after Bounds with something that could, as its essence, have been boiled down to, "Isn't Sarah Palin, in fact, a woman?" Bounds could have replied, "That's inappropriate," and he would have had a point. As it is, the only point in this clip was the one at the end of the shiv Campbell Brown was sticking into Bounds' gut. Brown: Foreign policy experience has been a huge issue in this campaign, ...

CNN, John McCain's camp at odds following feisty Campbell Brown interview
Top of the Ticket — In one of those moments a network execuitve would excitingly term "great TV," CNN's Campbell Brown and John McCain spokesman Tucker Bounds clashed on-air Monday over vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin's foreign policy credentials. Tensions -- and voices -- rose after the anchorwoman told Bounds that she was just "trying to get someone from the campaign to explain what foreign policy experience (Palin) has." Bounds repeatedly skirted the question, choosing instead to criticize Barack Obama's lack of ...

Stop Being Mean to John McCain
ArchPundit — By asking him questions and stuff: This afternoon, anchorman Wolf Blitzer announced on air that McCain’s planned interview with Larry King tonight had been canceled by the campaign. Blitzer said McCain aides complained that Brown had gone “over the line” in her grilling of Bounds. McCain campaign spokeswoman Maria Comella later explained the cancellation with this sharply worded statement: “After a relentless refusal by certain on-air reporters to come to terms with John McCain’s selection of Alaska’s sitting governor as our party’s nominee for vice president, we decided John McCain’s time ...

Testy, testy!
The Reality-Based Community — [image] Testy, testy! Did John McCain really cancel a Larry King appearance to punish CNN for this interview? Or, as Kevin Drum suspects , is that just an excuse to keep McCain from having to answer questions, even from the softest of softballers? Note that the interview only looks relentless because Tucker Bounds was defending such an absurd position. The interviewer doesn't even mention that the Adjutant General of the Alaska National Guard says the governor isn't even briefed about the Guard's national-security (as opposed to disaster-relief) activities. Apparently McCain's people have given Charles Gibson of ABC the sole McCain ...

Campbell Brown Interview Leads McCain to Cancel CNN Appearance
NewsBusters.org - Exposing Liberal Media Bias — Will CNN's Campbell Brown go down as the next Dan Rather in the halls of liberal bias infamy? That seems highly possible now after watching Brown's interview with John McCain strategist Tucker Bounds in which she repeatedly attacked Bounds over Sarah Palin's supposed lack of qualifications. The highly charged exchange (which was very much in keeping with Brown's long record of attacking Palin) led the GOP camp to cancel an interview that John McCain was set to do last night with CNN's Larry King. Full transcript of the Brown-Bounds exchange below the jump as well as CNN's later reference to it last ...

The Crackpiper Chronicles with Scott St. Clair - Part 4
HorsesAss.Org — It’s been a while since our all-time favorite troll, Scott St. Clair (AKA The Crackpiper) has given me some good material for a post, but he’s been writing columns now at places like Crosscut and the Kirkland Reporter, and his insane and nonsensical ramblings have once again caught my eye. Here’s a recap of two of his latest efforts in unintentional comedy. The Smallest Scandal in the World As a “General interest columnist” for the Kirkland Reporter, Crackpiper appears to be carrying quite a bit of water for the effort by Toby Nixon to unseat popular first-term ...

Sleeping With Adel Al-Jubeir & Dan Senor: The Foreign Policy "Experience" of Campbell Brown v. Sarah Palin
Debbie Schlussel — By Debbie Schlussel The McCain campaign canceled a scheduled CNN appearance by John McCain on the show hosted by the world's most inane and annoying interviewer, Larry King. They did so because of a rude interview by Dale Alma Campbell Brown a/k/a Campbell Brown with McCain spokesman Tucker Bound. The obnoxious interview--posted below--was four minutes of repeated interrupting, smirking, and faces a 2-year-old would make, all on the part of Dale Alma Campbell Brown. It focused on Brown's contention that McCain Vice Presidential choice, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, doesn't have foreign policy experience. But there are a couple ...

Real Vetting Roundup
Daily Kos — "The vetting process was completely thorough and I'm grateful for the results." - John McCain As the true vetting of Sarah Palin continued yesterday, we learned more about John McCain's pick for vice-president. Here's a recap of what we learned about the person John McCain thinks should be a 72-year-old heartbeat away from the presidency: She was involved in yet another ethical scandal, this time relating to her firing of a longtime local police chief, who "says he was fired because he stepped on the toes of Palin's campaign contributors, including bar owners and the National Rifle Association." ...

Ouch. Jon Stewart smacks down Oregon's Tucker Bounds
BlueOregon — Last night, on The Daily Show, Jon Stewart went off one of his patented comic tirades - and this time his target was McCain spokesman and Oregonian Tucker Bounds. He was interviewing CNN's Campbell Brown, whose interview with Tucker was a YouTube sensation, about retribution from the political campaigns. Brown: I did an interview with someone from the McCain campaign that the McCain campaign thought was too tough. Stewart: Tucker Bounds -- Brown: Exactly. Stewart: -- who I have seen on almost every network being kicked around like one of those things - you know, he's terrible. I mean, he is. I don't ...
