He Sees It Too
Talking Points Memo —
I spent most of this weekend at a family celebration. So it was only this evening that I got a chance to see Colin Powell's statement at the beginning of Meet the Press this morning, which you can see here ...
And what struck me was that Powell's rationale for supporting Obama tracked very closely with some of the harshest critics of Sen. McCain, despite the fact that he used less cutting words to express them.
There were three key points he hit. First, he questioned McCain's unsteady and erratic response to the economic crisis. He didn't use the word 'erratic' but ...

Politics on HuffingtonPost.com —
When a 19 year-old white supremacist recently gained a seat on the Palm Beach County Republican Executive Committee, the election created such an outcry that embarrassed local politicians used a technicality to block his seating. The entire process was buffoonish, although the views of the spawn of a grand wizard of the KKK and his supporters were not. WASHINGTON -- Retired Gen. Colin Powell, in conjunction with the presidential inaugural committee, today unveiled a program -- dubbed "Renew America Together" -- to spark a national wave of community service.
The initiative and new Web site -- usaservice.org -- will allow citizens to use online tools similar to those that Barack Obama's team crafted and employed with such success during the campaign. Via the site, users can host or seek out events in their community.
"Volunteering is something you give to your community and to our society," Powell said. "It comes back to you in terms of satisfaction, in terms ...
Obama to meet with Colin Powell
News —
President Obama will meet privately with Colin Powell this afternoon, according to the White House schedule. Obama will sit down with Powell in the Oval Office. The President's schedule is clear for two and half hours, though it's unclear if all of that time will be spent with powell. This will be the first meeting between the two since Obama was inaugurated. Powell's endorsement of Obama, of course, was seen as a pivotal event in the campaign.
