The GOP double standard illustrated
BlondeSense —
Jon Stewart nails Republican hypocrisy to the wall in this clip from last night's Daily Show. Watch how Faux's Dick Morris, Bill O and KKKarl Rove along with a clip of Gov. Palin herself illustrate the double standard and the flip flopping rampant in the GOP. This is the kind of journalism you don't get from the lousy old liberal media. It appears to this blonde that Faux News invented the gender
THE DAILY SHOW: SARAH PALIN GENDER CARD
PoliticsTV.com —
Jon Stewart mocks how O’Reilly’s opinion on teen pregnancy ‘gestated over a period of months.’
Think Progress —
Last night on the Daily Show, host Jon Stewart skewered Fox News’s Bill O’Reilly for claiming Bristol Palin’s pregnancy is “a personal matter,” when last year he pointed the finger of blame at Jamie-Lynn Spears’ parents — “who obviously have little control over her” — and called Spears an “incredible pinhead” when she revealed she was expecting. Stewart joked, “You see what happens with opinions over teen pregnancy is that they gestate over a period of months.” Watch it:
Stewart also pointed out Karl Rove’s radical ...
Ouch.
The Agitator —
Devastating. And he’s right about Dick Morris.
The Daily Show Goes There
Hoffmania! —
Why do people trust TDS and Jon Stewart more than the other mooks on cable news? They're not afraid to show the blatant partisan hypocrisy over "sexism" displayed by Karl Rove, Bill O'Reilly, Dick Morris, Nancy Pfotenhauer and yes, Sarah Palin.
As Karol would say…OMG

Seriously, folks, this is the funnest political season EVER.
"Daily Show" Takes On The Sarah Palin Gender Card (VIDEO)
Politics on HuffingtonPost.com —
"The Daily Show" takes a look at conservatives' sudden concern about sexism since Sarah Palin became John McCain vice presidential nominee:
"Karl Rove bitterly divided on the experience issue"
Daily Kos —
And it's not just Rove who is a hypocrite. This is freakin' brilliant. By the way, in that clip, Rove calls Wasilla Alaska's 2nd largest city. Based on current estimated population, that would actually be Fairbanks ... at 31,142. Juneau comes third at 30,737. Wasilla is fourth, believe it or not, at 9,236 today. When she was mayor, it had a population of 5,469. Richmond, VA, which Rove mocked earlier when he was taking aim at Tim Kaine, has a population of 200,123.

Livin' Palin And The New GOP Icon: The Daddy Baby
DownWithTyranny! —
In 2004 22.1 million viewers watched the coverage of the GOP convention. Last night it was 21.5 million who watched, not a terrible loss of audience share but considerably less than the 26 million who watched Hillary Clinton in St. Paul last week. (Around 40 million had watched Obama's speech on the final night of the Democratic convention. Maybe McCain will catch up.) And you can't even say it's because the Democrats have all the celebrities. The Palin family are the biggest celebrities in America... on the cover of every supermarket tabloid in the country. In fact, fabulously trashy celebrity sister Jamie Lynn Spears ...

The Nielsen News Re: Palin
The American Scene —
Via Nielsen:
The Sarah Palin speech generated 37.2 million viewers, just a 1.1 million viewers short of Barak Obama’s record-breaking speech on Day 4 of the Democratic Convention. The Palin speech was carried on only six networks while the Obama speech was carried on ten (including BET, TV One, Univision and Telemundo).
I wonder about how much overlap there was between the two audiences.
Ah, I should add this:
It’s a good thing Karl Rove and Bill O’Reilly and Dick Morris aren’t on the ticket!
The Case Against Talking Heads

We all spend too much time watching political coverage on television. We listen to former politicians and analysts dissect speeches, evaluate campaign strategy and predict what's going to happen in November. But they probably don't know what they're talking about. ...

In the Bush-Rove era, only a comedy show can expose the truth. Here's Karl Rove exposed in real time as one of the most dishonest, reality-free hacks in American political history:

Because sometimes "fake news" coverage is better than the actual news coverage
The Reaction —
By LindaBeth Everything I want to say about the hypocrisy around the rhetoric about Palin, and especially the Republicans' vomit-inducing use of gender rhetoric can be summed up by this brilliant analysis by the "fake news" reporter, Jon Stewart, on the September 3, 2008 The Daily Show: In Canada, watch it on clip 2 here. And in more The Daily Show-induced commentary....typically, I take the position that families and spouses/ partners are "off-limits" with regards to politics. But ...

Comments from Left Field —
Someone should really tell the GOP that being a two-faced flip-flopper is a skill that stopped being useful, oh, right around the time of Youtube.
But then again, maybe not. Things are more humorous this way.

Hey, Look! The Right's Noticed that Sexism Exists!
Shakesville —
I haven't watched the Daily Show in a long time, and from what I hear, the folks over there have not been covering themselves in glory where sexism is concerned. But this video? Is why they're awesome. (No, I don't love the comments about Karl Rove's head, but wait until after that.) ...
Rove on Mayoral Experience
Political Punch —
Rangel Admits Unreported Ways and Means | Main Rove on Mayoral Experience September 05, 2008 10:10 AM Fox News analyst Karl Rove -- the predictor of the Reagan-esque landslide for George W. Bush in 2000 and the owner of "the math" showing the 2006 GOP congressional surge -- had some interesting observations about Gov. Sarah Palin's qualifications. She was "Mayor of, I think, the second largest city in Alaska," Rove said of Palin's time at the helm of Wasilla, Alaska, with a population under 9,000. Watch HERE . A few weeks ago, however, when Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine was being considered as Sen. Barack Obama's running mate, Rove ...
No, Senator McCain, it's YOUR campaign that's playing the race card
Brilliant at Breakfast —
As one of our readers pointed out, "community organizer" is simply Karl Rove-speak for "n***er". And if you watched any of the speechifying at the Republican National Convention, the way speaker after speaker spat out the words "community organizer" as if it were spoiled meat, the implication was clear. ...
No Double Standard Here
PoliGazette —
After a blessed respite in Turkey without a computer I’ve returned to find that, to my utter non-surprise, the McCain campaign and it’s surrogates and many supporters have gone through a series of breathtaking back-flips to try to say that Sarah Palin is ready to be president and that she in no way undermines the experience argument they’ve been making all this time. To me, she is without a doubt the least qualified candidate I’ve seen this year. I may not agree with McCain, but he IS ready to be President, she is manifestly NOT.
Of course, I could never dream of being as masterful at the displaying of gross double ...

… and thank you, TiVo, for letting me catch up on The Daily Show at my own pace.
Priceless.
Karl Rove? Bill O’Reilly? Dick Morris?
What do they know?
And kudos to Stewart for giving Sarah Palin the last word. She made more sense than the lot of ‘em.
