Dick Cheney speech: "We cannot protect this country by putting politics over security, and turning the guns on our own guys" (Video)
Hyscience —
Wednesday night, October 21, former Vice President Dick Cheney received the Center for Security Policy's Keeper of the Flame Award. His speech came after two top Barack Obama aides -- senior advisor David Axelrod and Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel -- having gone on the TV talk shows Sunday and used very similar words to explain their latest lengthy policy review as the fault of the long-gone Bush administration ignoring the needs of Afghanistan for years, an accusation that was completely dismantled by Cheney in his speech when he blew the whistle on the Obama administration when Cheney said this was not only untrue, but that the Obama administration specifically asked the Bush ...

The Corner on National Review Online —
speaking to the Center for Security Policy:
So among my other concerns about the drift of events under the present administration, I consider the abandonment of missile defense in Eastern Europe to be a strategic blunder and a breach of good faith.
It is certainly not a model of diplomacy when the leaders of Poland and the Czech Republic are informed of such a decision at the last minute in midnight phone calls. It took a long time and lot of political courage in those countries to arrange for our interceptor system in Poland and the radar system in the Czech Republic. Our Polish and Czech friends are entitled to wonder how strategic plans and ...

Reading the excerpts of Vice President Cheney's speech at the Center for Security Policy last night, posted here by Paul (full text posted here), is bracing. Vice President Cheney expands on many of the themes we have pursued, including this one regarding the Obama administration's abandonment of Poland and Czechoslovakia to appease Russia and Iran:
[A]mong my other concerns about the drift of events under the present administration, I consider the abandonment of missile defense in Eastern Europe to be a strategic blunder and a breach of good faith.

George Bush may want to allow the spotlight to fade from Crawford, but after a short spell of silence, the former VP has returned to engagement on the war. Cheney blasts Obama’s “dithering” on the war in Afghanistan and his abrupt betrayals of allies in eastern Europe: Here is one key passage , which explains why Cheney has re-emerged: Recently, President Obama’s advisors have decided that it’s ...
Dick Cheney Rips Obama On Foreign Policy
Nice Deb —
Former Vice President, Dick Cheney delivered this barn-burner last night, after accepting the Keeper of the Flame Award at The Center for Security Policy in Washington, DC. He was introduced by Senator Jon Kyl and former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld.
Ouch. Consider that ...
Cheney: Obama Should Stop ‘Dithering’ On Afghanistan And Just Copy The Bush Administration’s Strategy
Think Progress —
Yesterday, Vice President Cheney spoke at the Center for Security Policy, run by former Reagan official and prominent neoconservative Frank Gaffney. Cheney used the opportunity to aggressively attack President Obama, accusing him of “giving in to the angry left” and “dithering while America’s armed forces are in danger.” He added that because Obama “seems afraid to make a decision” on whether to add more troops to Afghanistan, he should just emulate the Bush administration’s strategy since it was so successful:
We should all be concerned as well with the direction of policy on Afghanistan. For ...
Obama’s Foreign Policy Flame Out
RedState: Conservative News and Community —
As most of you know, former Vice President Dick Cheney gave a superlative speech a couple of nights ago at the Center for Security Policy, (transcript thoughtfully provided by AE) in which he delivered a blistering critique of the Obama administration’s unconscionable selling out of the new democracies in Eastern Europe to appease a fatally ill and virtually toothless Russia and the callous sacrificing of American soldiers because of the refusal of the administration to act in Afghanistan.
His critique laid bare the moral and intellectual bankruptcy of this administration and served as a clarion call ...
