Less Government, Not More
Power Line — This video on health care, produced by the Center for Freedom and Prosperity, features Eline van den Broek, founder of the European Independent Institute. She does a nice job of explaining, in simple terms, why the United States should not copy Europe's mistakes, and why the key to true health care reform is less government, not more:

Video: The real lessons of Europe’s nanny-state health care system
Hot Air » Top Picks — Video: The real lessons of Europe’s nanny-state health care system posted at 12:55 pm on November 3, 2009 by Ed Morrissey Share on Facebook | printer-friendly As Barack Obama and the Democrats attempt to remake the American health-care system into the European model, a European economist warns the US that they have fundamentally misunderstood the lessons of EuroCare. Universal coverage is not the same thing as universal care, Elina van den Broek instructs, and that the only equality we can expect is equally long wait times and equally unresponsive providers. The Center for Freedom and Prosperity offers this as part of its continuing series on the high cost ...

Video: Dont Copy Europes Mistakes: Less Government Is the Right Way to Fix Healthcare
Hyscience — Via Ed Morrissey, The Center for Freedom and Prosperity offers this video as part of its continuing series on the high cost and damaging distortions that come with heavy government interventions. In the video, Eline van den Broek explains that government interference is driving up health care costs in America and warns that European style health "reform" will make the situation even worse. Based on what has happened in Europe, she explains that universal health coverage is not the same as universal health care, that insurance mandates mean more government control, and that price controls simply do not work: "American policymakers should not look to European ...

The right to wait in a long line
SCSUScholars — The title is the most salient thing I got from this video. You can give people a right, but short of a government supervising and forcing patients to be seen by conscription at specified intervals -- a practice unknown in any country I know of, please offer counterexamples if you should have them -- all this does is replace the price with a queue. ...

Third Party Payers
Maggie's Farm — Powerline: "This video on health care, produced by the Center for Freedom and Prosperity, features Eline van den Broek, founder of the European Independent Institute." She makes the correct point that it is third party payments for medical care which have permitted the rise in cost of medical care in the US. I think that is part of the story, but the other part of the story is that our higher costs buy us access, choices, abundance, and quality.

Why Would We Want To Make The Same Mistake As Europe?
QandO — If you have a friend who is a supporter of the present monstrosity called “health care reform” because they think Europeans are better served by their system than we are by ours and the Democrat’s solution will make us more like them, ask them to watch this 4 1/2 minute video. By the way, pay particular attention to the rising costs of health care in Europe and, more importantly, the chart which shows costs to include cosmetic surgery, which is the only market based part of health care we have. Amazing how that works, no? ~McQ ...

Shot in the Dark — The Dems want to adopt a European healthcare system. Some of them might want them S might want us to take theirs off their hands: Question:  Is introducing a dissenting point of view a “hatecrime” yet? (via King Banaian).
