Fox News allows ‘magic negro’ New Year’s message to be broadcast.
Think Progress —
Throughout last night’s New Year’s eve broadcast, Fox News Channel allowed viewers to send in New Year’s greetings and wishes via text message. The messages were then scrolled across the bottom of the screen, replacing Fox’s normal crawling news headlines. While most messages were cordial, Fox allowed at least one racist message directed toward President-elect Obama to be broadcast. The message referenced Rush Limbaugh’s “Barack the Magic Negro” song:
HAPPY NEW YEAR AND LET’S HOPE THE MAGIC NEGRO DOES A GOOD JOB. LOVE JEN AND JOHN C.

Fox News New Years Eve Ticker: “Let’s Hope The Magic Negro Does A Good Job”
Say Anything —
On New Years Eve, Fox News encouraged viewers to send in text messages that would appear on the air on the news ticker at the bottom of the screen. The moderators of those text messages apparently let one slip by:
I actually think that’s kind of funny. As funny as all of the faux outrage from the left over the “magic negro” non-scandal in the first place.

Shakesville —
Just watch the scroll at the bottom of the screen, where Fox News was posting Happy New Year text messages from its viewers: If you can't see the video, it reads: "HAPPY NEW YEAR AND LET'S HOPE THE MAGIC NEGRO DOES A GOOD JOB. LOVE JEN AND JOHN C." Stay classy, Fox. [Via Think Progress.]
Fox News Wishes Everyone a Magical Negro New Year
Politics Daily —
Filed under: Republicans, Barack Obama, Gaffes, Media, RaceMan, you gotta love "satire," don't ya? During Fox News' New Years broadcast, the network scrolled text messages from Fox viewers, and one of them was a clever, pitch-perfect satire of the LA Times. From HuffPo: Viewers were allowed to text in messages that scrolled across the bottom in lieu of the news. One message read: HAPPY NEW YEAR AND LET'S HOPE THE MAGIC NEGRO DOES A GOOD JOB. LOVE JEN AND JOHN C. This is the same network who brought you that "satire" of ...
Matthew Filipowicz: Chip "Barack The Magic Negro" Saltsman's RNC Campaign Ad
Politics on HuffingtonPost.com —
So, by now, we've all heard that one of the leading candidates to be chairman of the RNC, Chip Saltsman, sent out CDs with the song "Barack the Magic Negro" as Christmas presents. Because nothing says "Merry Christmas" like blatant racism. I mean, it's not like Jesus was dark skinned or anything.
Now, you'd think that after Saltsman showed his racist stripes, his chances to win the RNC chair would be slim to none. But, these are Republicans we're dealing with. And a whole slew of them are rallying around Chip's right to be an ignorant bigot. And make no mistake, this is America. You have that right.
So, Chip, galvanized by his party's support, has ...
Fox News broadcasts a racist New Year's message
Feministing —
It looks like 2009 will be a very unchanged year for Fox News' bad habits.
On New Years Eve, Fox News Channel allowed folks to text in Happy New Years wishes to be scrolled at the bottom of the screen where news headlines are usually featured. One text I guess "slipped" through the screening process, where someone referenced to the racist "Barack the Magic Negro" song:
HAPPY NEW YEAR AND LET'S HOPE THE MAGIC NEGRO DOES A GOOD JOB. LOVE JEN AND JOHN C.
Via Think Progress. ...
