Luntz focus group: Palin in a blowout

Luntz focus group: Palin in a blowout posted at 11:25 pm on October 2, 2008 by Allahpundit Send to a Friend | printer-friendly Lest anyone think Luntz cooks these things, his presidential debate FG was basically a wash tilting slightly towards Obama and his FG for C-SPAN shortly after Palin was picked was decidedly chilly towards her . The electoral math is sufficiently unforgiving that I can’t quite believe this is a gamechanger, but clearly she did as well as anyone could have hoped. Clutch. Update: At the very least, Palin’s alive for 2012. A nice consolation prize if things don’t pan out this year.
Frank Luntz Group: Palin Wins
Stop The ACLU —
Frank Luntz focus group was overwhelmingly in agreement that Palin won this debate. She was confident, and totally blew the lid off the frame the media tried to put around her neck. She connected with the American people, and folks felt her energy was refreshing. The Drudge poll says 75 to 25 in her favor. AJ Strata is asking for a job in the administration. ...

Sarah Palin speaking at GOP post Vice Presidential debate in St Louis
So, who won the VP debate?
Depends upon how you measure. One early poll gives the nod to Joe Biden but Frank Luntz’s focus group of undecided voters give an overwhelming win to Sarah Palin.
The proof in the pudding will be the tracking polls ...

The Luntz focus groupers give it to Palin. The CNN and CBS snap polls have Biden by a wide margin.
Focus Group: Hands Down Winner was Palin
Ankle Biting Pundits —
Focus group reactions don’t get much more conclusive than this:
Sen. Joe Biden turned in a forgettable performance tonight that can only be characterized as “sleepy anger.”
Gov. Palin on the other hand was personable, smart, articulate and strong. She connected with voters tonight. She easily batted away Sen. Biden and that moderator’s tag team job against her and dominated the show. A typical exchange tonight involved Sen. Biden leveling a (many time false) charge at Sen. John McCain and the moderator calling on Gov. Palin to account for it. But the governor ...
Grand Slam
Power Line —
That describes the first half-hour of Sarah Palin's performance against Joe Biden tonight. She was calm, commanding and articulate. She repeatedly knifed Biden with a smile and showed why she is one of the most effective communicators in American politics. I've been watching Presidential debates since 1960, and I can't recall a more one-sided matchup than the first 30 minutes of tonight's debate. It was all Sarah Palin. After that it equalized a bit, and by the last half-hour I'd guess that television sets were turning off across America. But there is no doubt who prevailed in tonight's encounter: the Sarah Palin we loved at the convention is back. In fact, she ...
WOW!! Palin Shock and Awe
Wizbang —
Sarah is no Dan Quayle. And she is no Tina Fey cartoon. And she is no drooling moron. Democrats set the debate up better than we ever could have. If you accuse someone of being a drooling boob, you darn well better make sure they are one. Palin showed up and made all those who ridiculed her look like idiots. Case in point -- Keith Olbermann. I was flipping around so I just caught bits and pieces of the post debate here and there. On MSNBC, Chris Matthews and Andrea Mitchell said Palin was rehearsed. Matthews said the danger with these debates is that people say rehearsed lines and they can be mistaken for intelligence. Sounds a bit like good ole Teleprompter ...

Sarah Palin Saves Her Political Future
The American Mind —
Going into the Vice Presidential debate I worried about Gov. Sarah Palin. Since Sen. John McCain announced her as his running mate and her amazing acceptance speech I got caught up in her magical launch upon the American scene. Since then Palin has had shaky and poor interviews with Charlie Gibson and Katie Couric.
I care more about Palin as the future standard bearer for conservatives than I do for the McCain campaign. She connects with the grassroots better than any politician I’ve seen in my life. (Too young to appreciate Reagan as President.) I worried Palin allowed herself to be ...

I know I should try not to be so obnoxious to swing voters. I am working on it. I need to stop making references to animals like monkeys and flatworms.
These individuals may not be giant brains, but I'm sure that many, many of them are fine people. You don't have to be brilliant to be a good person. People sometimes criticize Christianity because you don't have to be very smart to be a Christian. Judaism, for example, is much more cerebral. For a long time, I've believed that the accessibility of Christianity is part of its design and one of its great virtues. I think it bolsters the argument that Christianity is ...
“CBS Poll: More Uncommitted Voters Saw Biden As Winner”; pw response: “More Uncommitted Voters Eat Crack than I’d Thought Possible”
protein wisdom —
– Which results, I think, suggests quite a bit about both CBS and the kinds of “uncommitted voters” — all 470+ of these creatures — they polled. My guess? Going into last night’s debate, 300 or so of these folks weren’t sure if they were going to vote for Obama, for Nader, or try a write-in vote for Hugo Chavez or Miley Cyrus: CBS News and Knowledge Networks have conducted a nationally representative poll of 473 uncommitted voters to get their immediate reaction to tonight’s vice presidential debate. After the first presidential debate, a similar survey showed that more uncommitted voters identified Barack Obama as the winner Final numbers from ...

Little Miss Attila —
Sheesh. I had no idea I was going to have to run this video. This debate was either a draw, or a slight win for Palin--very close; both Palin and Biden did quite well. But it's being spun as a win for . . . Biden? Come on. I guess that means that after the Republicans win this election again, it will have been stolen. Retroactively. 'Cause no one could possibly vote for McCain; not after he brought Mayor Bimbo on board. Via Goldstein, ...
VP Debate: Sarah Palin Lost! Sarah Palin Won! (Video)
Tennessee Guerilla Women —
CNN and MSNBC and assorted media polls call the historic Vice Presidential debate for Senator Joe Biden. Many pronounce Joe Biden to be a statesman, unlike Sarah Palin. I missed a lot of the coverage, so I'm not sure if the pundits continue to call the woman stupid. Based on the vile schoolyard nature of the primary campaign against Hillary Rodham Clinton, I'm guessing yes. It should be obvious that I do not advocate voting for Republicans. I do, however, advocate ending the male monopoly on power and elevating the pathetic schoolyard discourse. If anything is stupid, it is this 2 year ...
After Giving Obama Round One, FNC's Luntz Gives Nod to Palin
NewsBusters.org - Exposing Liberal Media Bias —
With all the hysterical leftwing hyperbole about Fox News being a Republican talking points echo chamber, its post-debate coverage in the past week has been far more fair and balanced than others in the media. Take for example FNC contributor and pollster Frank Luntz who having declared Barack Obama the victor of last Friday's presidential debate (video embedded below the fold) gave Sarah Palin the nod Thursday evening (video embedded right). Wouldn't it be nice if most other media outlets could be so fair and balanced as opposed to the predictable sycophancy we're witnessing elsewhere: ...
