Ben Smith's Blog —
Part of the appeal of the DNC Chairmanship to a figure like Tim Kaine is that, in this era, it provides him a platform for communicating directly with millions of Obama supporters.
In this YouTube video, emailed to the DNC's list, he responds to a range of questions with promises of working in a non-ideological way to find soluitons. He also gives a "shout out" to the youth.
Kaine: We Will Continue a 50-State Stategy (of some sort)
Open Left - Front Page —
Newly appointed DNC Chair Tim Kaine has released a video where he responds to about a dozen questions submitted by citizens. It's the Tim Kaine Show

Tim Kaine isn't wasting any time making use of what Politico's Ben Smith notes is a big new megaphone provided by a DNC empowered by Obama's communications networks. Kaine's answering questions put to him online. It's curious, though, that he chose to launch with a 26-minute video. Kaine: Dems Won't Write Off Any State or Region Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine, the new chairman of the Democratic National Committee (DNC), promised to continue with the so-called "50-state strategy" pioneered by his predecessor, former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean. "The results that the DNC has achieved under the strategy speak for themselves," Kaine said in a web video totaling almost half an hour. The strategy, which has sought to never discount races in any state, has been credited with expanding the electoral map for Democrats into traditionally Republican territory. "We're past the point where we're going to write any state off, or any region of the country," added ...
A tale of two party leaders
Political Animal —
A TALE OF TWO PARTY LEADERS.... Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine, the new chairman of the Democratic National Committee, answered questions from Americans on a new YouTube video released yesterday. Kaine fielded a question from a life-long Republican who voted a straight Democratic ticket in 2008, and who wants to know if the party will continue to make him feel welcome. Kaine responded: "I've been a Democrat my whole life ... but this is a time in our nation where the challenges are huge and not all of the monopoly on wisdom is with any one group or any one party. So, we were able to be successful in November, both in Virginia and nationally, by attracting ...
