'I am Joe' - New McCain Spot
Politics Daily — Filed under: Ads, 2008 PresidentJohn McCain's new 1:30 web video is titled "I am Joe." The man/woman on the street stuff is good. The mix of video and audio formats this was composed in also adds to its authenticity. Given the state of play in this race, it's probably more effective than the sharper contrasts they've tried previously. Or for that matter, the incredibly negative ads run by do-anything-to-win Barack Obama. Still...one can't but think while watching "I'm a PC." ...

That Was Fast
Right Wing Nation — Just a few days ago, the McCain campaign started soliciting videos from voters. Here they are, edited into an ad: I Am Joe.

Last Words: McClellan Endorses Obama
The Caucus — This just in: Former Bush White House press secretary, Scott McClellan, whose scathing book about the Bush administration made him persona non grata, has told CNN that he is endorsing Senator Barack Obama. The Death of Traditional Campaign Tactics, Part I
The Next Right — The other day, the McCain campaign introduced by far its most inspired online initiative to date: its "Joe the Plumber" video contest. Today's very "I'm-a-PC" web video compilation of the submissions does not disappoint: Contrast to this TV ad along the same lines, releases yesterday:   On what planet does the latter ad deserve to get released on TV, while the former gets put into narrow distribution on the Web. I'm very confident if you surveyed the next 100 ...

"I Am Joe"
Power Line — The McCain campaign ran a competition to be featured in a new video; here it is. It's called "I Am Joe." The theme of opportunity has always been a winner for Republicans in the past; let's hope it still is:

I AM BILL
iowahawk — Editorial note: my previous "I AM JOE" post seems to have struck a chord, and possibly a nerve or two. As one new fan writes: "I think it's hilarious you wingnuts want to embrace this wifebeating tax cheat non-plumber as your new populist poster boy. Funny I didn't see your concern when the Murdoch media was trying to destroy Bill Ayers' life." You make an excellent point, T.S.! Why should us flag-humping reactionaries get all the good flesh-and-blood lumpenproles to rally behind? So, in preemptive compliance with the ...

Daily Digest: Fighting Robos with Radar
techPresident — The Web on the Candidates Will Going Public Be the End of Robocalls?: Townhall.com's Matt Lewis taps into an idea that's been making the rounds: old-school campaign tactics that thrive in secrecy, like very negative robocalls and mailers, might not survive the transparency the Internet can create. The Obama campaign is certainly hoping that's the case. The campaign has just released an Under the Radar map that plots robocalls and negative mailers on a map of the United States. The map not only tracks the slate of actions against Obama, it ...
