I hope everyone is revved up for Governor Palin's speech. Feel free to drop any snide sexist remarks you hear into the comments. I'm collecting them. And here's a funny video about Sarah Barracuda and John McCain and how: "There's 18 million cracks in the glass ceiling and it's about to start raining shards into the hearts of the American people." Sarahcuda* has not only spurred certain factions on the left to great new heights of dishonesty, hatred, and rumor-mongering, she’s also bringing out the kind of hilarity and appropriate nut-punching that I’ve missed on the internet lately. Three items for your review:
First and best, via Althouse, a comedy video imagining the phone call from McCain to Sarahcuda asking her to be VP. I haven’t enjoyed 3 minutes on YouTube this much in my entire life.
Second, Jim Treacher mocks Washington Post writer Howard Kurtz:

I Do Not Believe This Is Lisa Nova.
Little Miss Attila —
I Do Not Believe This Is Lisa Nova. I think it's Audrey Rapaport, who has apparently relocated to New York City. I can kind of see a ballpark similarity between Audrey and Lisa, but I still think this is an Audrey production because of that distinctive curl of the lips that's much more Rapoport-esque than Nova-ish. But I cannot be sure. Will the real fake-Sarah, fake-Hillary stand up? (And, with all due respect for both John McCain and Sarah Palin, I do thing the first clip is hilarious. It's essentially the Republican version of that SNL skit from a few months ago in which Obama gets into the White House but ...

Patterico's Pontifications —
Althouse is right: this is brilliant — and it’s a perfect set-up for the speech.
Be warned: there is profanity.
Power Glutes Sullivan is pre-moping:
In all likelihood, Sarah Palin will deliver a speech that will tear the roof off the Xcel Center tonight. Every single commentator on the cable and the networks will declare it a triumph. The base will exult at their Joan of Arc triumphing over the evil, despicable vile press, who have had the effrontery to ask a potential future vice-president of the United ...

Pundit Review —
Sometimes it really is a field of dreams 1220461253_4466 Warning: Hankie Alert A very touching story in today’s Boston Globe. I couldn’t help but be reminded what a central role the game of baseball played in my childhood, and in my relationship with my father. A die hard Red Sox fan from Utah promised his sons that he would take them to Fenway Park to see a game this summer. The father, James W. Taylor, Jr. was killed in a helicopter accident in Arizona in June. He worked as an emergency room nurse, served as a first lieutenant in the US Army Reserves and worked part time on Life Flight. He was on a Life Flight, working to save a life, ...
The Obvious Point: McCain is the Wrong Nominee
Open Left - Front Page —

McCain’s moment
Pundit Review —
McCain’s moment John McCain was not speaking to the convention hall last night, he was speaking to the TV audience. Instead of a steady diet of red meat, McCain directly indicted the GOP and their failures in recent years. Here is my favorite part of the speech, starting at about the 2 minute mark, I fight to restore the pride and principles of our party. We were elected to change Washington, and we let Washington change us. We lost the trust of the American people when some Republicans gave in to the temptations of corruption. We lost their trust when rather than reform government, both parties made it bigger. We lost their trust when ...
Sarah Palin and intellectual honesty on the right
Pundit Review —
Sarah Palin and intellectual honesty on the right John McCain’s pick of Sarah Palin has generated such enthusiasm that some on the right are so giddy with excitement, they are spinning so fast and furious they forget what they have stood for or said previously. I’m excited by the Palin pick as well, but I’ve tried to remain honest about her strengths (which are considerable) and her weaknesses (ditto). I’m not saying that I am perfect in this regard. It’s just that the Palin frenzy has really exposed those who are trying to be consistent and those who are not. I used a baseball analogy last weekend on the radio to ...

When Will We Find Out Who The Real Sarah Palin Is-- And How?
DownWithTyranny! —
Roland and I were in a supermarket today. He doesn't follow politics as assiduously as I do. After viewing the magazine rack at the checkout stand he had a different take on Sarah Palin than anyone else I know. Roland's in his early 30s and looking for a new girlfriend. Sometimes he uses online dating services. He said that occasionally women with a psychotic look in their eyes-- someone, he said, "really disturbed who might burn your house down if she got mad"-- puts her picture up. He says he takes one look and skips to the next entry. And that's what he says he saw staring back at him from the cover of... I don't remember if it ...

(Me neither.) Simply awful, but I offer it to you anyway for two reasons. One: It comes from Will Ferrell’s outfit, Funny or Die, and as such stands as a shining example of how narrow the gap is these days between the pros and the better YouTube amateurs . Two: I’m going stir crazy waiting for the Charlie Gibson interview and need to get my Palin fix any way I can. If there’s a gaffe, on which subject is it most ...
CNN Highlights Palin impersonators FROM YOUTUBE.COM
techPresident —
CNN reports:
Tina Fey may be the best but she's far from the ONLY Sarah Palin impersonator. CNN's Jeanne Moos rounds up the imposters.
CNN has a piece about Sarah Palin impersonators, and posts links to most of the videos as 'FROM YOUTUBE.COM.'
You'll notice that when CNN displays video from NBC they show a graphic that says, 'Saturday Night Live from NBC', or 'Nightline From NBC News.'
They do add a graphic for Funny or Die, but regular YouTube comedians don't get credit.
Can we get some link backs to the YouTube comedians?
This is a good example of why you'd want to put ...
Today in The Nation: You-Tubing the Election
The Nation: Top Stories —
In America's first YouTube election, it turns out the voters were mainly in charge--not the campaigns or news organizations. The Nation analyzed the top YouTube videos about both presidential nominees during the general election, starting in May after the parties' primaries were settled, and found that the most-viewed videos were made by citizens and independent groups. Out of the top twenty videos focusing on Obama, only one was produced by his campaign, an advertisement contrasting his economic credentials with John McCain's. Three other Obama videos came from McCain's headquarters, as viewers flocked to see sensational attack ads slamming ...
