'Joe the Plumber' - New McCain Ad
Politics Daily —
Filed under: Ads, John McCain, 2008 PresidentPicking up on last night's debate (that 56 million American's watched), John McCain's campaign has a new :30 second spot airing titled "Joe the Plumber." This ad should worry the smug campaign of Barack Obama. Although, since 4:1 political spending is swamping the McCain effort, may be not.
Nevertheless, it's a smart message.
The ad hits Obama, truthfully, where it hurts - on economic policy. Liberals know Obama is their guy. He's one of them. Before he ...

[image] This is going to send the Joe The Plumber Derangement Syndrome sufferers into further outrage. Brace for more attacks on Joe. ARLINGTON, VA — Today, McCain-Palin 2008 released its latest web ad, entitled “Joe the Plumber.” The ad highlights Barack Obama’s plans to increase taxes on Americans, even as they seek to build their own small businesses and create jobs. While Barack Obama talks about cutting taxes, his plan is really just a plan to “spread the wealth around” instead of creating new wealth and new opportunity. VIEW THE WEB AD HERE . Will They Call It Obafare?
Riehl World View —
Will They Call It Obafare, or just fairness, according to Obama?
Obama isn't even a Democrat like Clinton, who at least begrudgingly signed Welfare Reform. Obama wants to and will build it into the tax system. This isn't spreading the wealth around. It's the transference of wealth. Why work harder to make more money when Obama has your back?
Hopefully most in the middle-class aren't so clueless as to not be able to figure this out before it's too late. His plan won't help taxpaying citizens at all in the end. But it will create more non-taxpaying citizens as his tax increases shrink jobs. h/t ...

New McCain ad: “Joe the Plumber” posted at 4:39 pm on October 16, 2008 by Allahpundit Send to a Friend | printer-friendly In which Maverick calls the snap, rears back, and tosses his new political football downfield. The left’s very excited indeed to discover that Wurzelbacher’s not a licensed plumber and that he goes by his middle name(!!1!), so you should definitely take those things into account the next time you hear him ask a question about taxes. Hey — he asked for it by creating a bad photo op for The One. Exit quotation: “Joe’s the man.”

This just landed in my inbox. I kid you not, even after the dumptruck of embarrassing news about “Joe” that is circulating (has no plumber’s license, is delinquent on taxes, is related to Charles Keating, and compares Obama to Sammy Davis, Jr.), the McCain team puts out this winner:
JOHN MCCAIN: I’m John McCain and I approve this message.

McCain's New Joe the Plumber Ad Goes Where He Has Not Gone Before: Correctly Calling Obama's "Tax Cuts" for Non-Tax payers Welfare
Ace of Spades HQ —
McCain's New Joe the Plumber Ad Goes Where He Has Not Gone Before: Correctly Calling Obama's "Tax Cuts" for Non-Tax payers Welfare Racist, I know. Which is good. If McCain's willing to be a racist on handouts for those who pay no taxes whatsoever -- spreading the wealth from those who produce a lot of it to those who produce very little, if any, of it -- perhaps he'll finally dare to make the less racist point that Obama voted present on reforming Fannie and Freddie, the Democrats' previous most prominent spread-the-wealth institutions. Of course, that was covert spreading the wealth -- subsidizing mortgages for bad credit risks by ...

Joe the Plumber (or not): A Chronology
Politics Daily —
Filed under: Republicans, Debates, 2008 President In the past 24 hours, America has been introduced to the most famous plumber (quasi-plumber?) since Donkey Kong spun off its plunger-toting hero into the long-running "Super Mario" videogame series. I speak, of course, of "Joe the Plumber." Joe Wurzelbacher first burst onto the national politicalscene at an Obama campaign stop in Holland, Ohio, where he asked the Democratic nominee why he was giving present Joe a tax cut, but increasing Future Joe's taxes by 3% on income over the $250,000.00 ...
Joe The Plumber Makes McCain Ad, Takes More Questions Than Palin
The Huffington Post | Full News Feed —
It was bound to happen. A day after a man nicknamed "Joe the Plumber" became the focus of the political world, the McCain campaign cut a commercial hoping to ride his supporter's fifteen minutes of fame.
Titled "Joe the Plumber", the spot is strictly for the web -- meaning the McCain camp is hoping for the media to fall all over itself chasing the story line. There are digs are Barack Obama to accompany the message. But its hard to imagine people paying any attention to this story beyond the meteoric rise of a random plumber from Ohio.

McCain Camp Releases "Joe the Plumber" Ad
Gateway Pundit —
And, then came a plumber... Joe the Plumber comes to the rescue. The McCain Camp released the "Joe the Plumber" ad today: Just curious-- Why did they leave out the word "socialism?" Unfortunately for Joe this means that the Obamedia and nutroots must destroy him. It's how the Left works. Joe expects his fame to last a couple days until things move on to something else. Maybe he's right about that. too.
This Is Why They Are Going After Joe
Wizbang —
Last night I was ticked that McCain let Obama repeat that 95 percent will get tax cuts line over and over again without challenging it as welfare. I told a McCain campaign friend of mine this morning that I sure hoped there was a plan to do it in an ad, and that letting Obama keep repeating it was just a set up. This ad is exactly what I was hoping for. No matter how much the Left tries to destroy Joe the Plumber, it won't matter, because as I pointed out earlier what Joe said is not what was important. It was what Obama said that was. He admitted that his tax philosophy is that it is good to spread the wealth around. Well, it isn't good ...

Joe The Plumber
Daily Kos —
Interesting McCain ad. So Joe (whose name is Sam) the Plumber (who isn't a plumber) was used by McCain to attack Obama's tax proposal, though Joe/Sam actually pays less tax under Obama (if he actually got around to paying his taxes.) Barack Obama: Wrong on Taxes - Wrong for America [Reader Post]
Flopping Aces —
We’ve heard a lot about Barack Obama’s tax plan over the last few days.
None of the propaganda or talking points from the candidate, or the campaign was more telling however, than Obama’s comments directly to “Joe the Plumber” at a campaign stop in Ohio.
I’ve said a couple of times that I believe that Obama will rue the day he had that conversation. It very well may prove to be his “Mondale Moment”.

The Arizona senator released a web video Thursday degrading his opponent's refundable tax credits as "welfare" and "government handouts." Joe the Plumber: Changing This Year's Race?
Power Line —
As Paul noted earlier today, John McCain is "hanging around" in the Presidential race despite what would seem to be overwhelming odds. Maybe even doing a bit better than hanging around, as the current Gallup poll has Obama up by only two points, within the margin of error, among "traditional likely voters." Which illustrates the problem pollsters have, trying to figure out who will actually vote this year.
I think several developments may be helping McCain a bit. The emergence of ACORN as an issue is one. Voter fraud really angers people, for good reason, and most voters understand not only that ACORN is registering ...

For all those dismissing McCain and saying the game is over, you are wrong. McCain is on his game. Example 1: He is riding Obama on the tax issue like a true maverick ! McCain's New Joe the Plumber Ad: A Cynical Act of Class Warfare
David Corn —
It's official: John McCain has exhumed the body of Lee Atwater and breathed life into it.
Atwater was Karl Rove before Rove was Rove. (Actually, he was a mentor for Rove.) As the GOP's top strategist in the 1980s, Atwater--accused often of relying on unethical and dirty tricks--perfected the mean and nasty politics of resentment and, thus, helped elect George H.W. Bush president.
One of McCain's latest ads would make Atwater proud. The main line of the ad, which features Joe the Plumber, is this:
Obama raises taxes on seniors, hard working families to give "welfare" to those who pay ...
