Rush on the Hill (and Fergie and J-Lo, Too) -- By: Kathryn Jean Lopez
The Corner on National Review Online —
At a congressional hearing today, Steve King, Iowa Republican, questioned NFL commissioner Roger Goodell about Rush Limbaugh. Goodell didn't have much of an answer, but King did a bit of a public service reading that real Rush quote about media treatment of Donovan McNabb aloud, making clear there was nothing offensive about it (something else can be said of some other team celebrity owners' work products, which King also pointed out): ...
Congressman Challenges NFL Commissioner Over Why Rush Can't Own a Team But Fergie and J-Lo Can
NewsBusters.org - Exposing Liberal Media Bias —
During Wednesday's Congressional hearing about head injuries in football, Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) challenged NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell over why Rush Limbaugh wasn't allowed to be a team owner but pop artists Fergie and Jennifer Lopez were approved to be so. As NewsBusters reported on October 17, Fergie and J-Lo are part owners of the Miami Dolphins, and they have incidents in their respective pasts that are far more offensive than anything Limbaugh was accused of. With this in mind, King said the following to Goodell (video embedded below the fold with partial ...
Rep King Grills NFL Honcho Over Phony Rush Smears
The Radio Equalizer: Brian Maloney —
PERSONAL FOUL Goodell Called To Account For Anti-Rush Smear Effort *** UPDATED BELOW *** BREAKING: Rep Steve King has held NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell's feet to the fire over the dishonest smear effort that cost Rush Limbaugh the opportunity to own the St Louis Rams. Watch as Goodell weasels out of the grilling, deflecting questions and playing dumb. Goodell also distorted Limbaugh's comments about Donovan McNabb, when it should be clear by now that Rush merely said he was an overrated (by the media) quarterback, not a bad ...

Video: Steve King grills NFL commissioner on hypocrisy over Limbaugh posted at 6:40 pm on October 28, 2009 by Allahpundit Share on Facebook | printer-friendly Rush responded to this afterwards, but since I’m lifting the video from Radio Equalizer , I’ll make you click over there to read the quote. Consider this the solution to the mystery of why Olbermann, of all people, defended Limbaugh’s ownership bid : He knew this type of questioning would inevitably result and that any liberal associated with the NFL who’s ever popped off (like, say, Keith Olbermann) would henceforth be scrutinized by conservatives for proof of pro football’s double standard. ...
Rep. Steve King Grills NFL Commissioner Over Disgraceful Anti-Conservative Bias
Gateway Pundit —
Commissioner Goodell gets grilled by Rep. Steve King (R-IA) for his double standard against conservative owners. Goodell and the NFL obviously accept racist and mysogynistic lyrics from black rapper owners but will not allow conservatives to own franchises if the state-run media smears them with racist lies.
Good for Rep. King.

STILL THE KING.... Yesterday, the House Judiciary Committee held a hearing on head injuries suffered by professional football players. It's a subject of increasing interest in light of reports pointing to the frequency with which former players are diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease or similar memory-related diseases -- 19 times the normal rate for men ages 30 through 49. And while this may seem unrelated to congressional responsibilities, Congress does extend antitrust protections given to the NFL, and has a role in addressing public health issues. The formal name for the hearing was "Legal Issues Related to Football Head Injuries." As is always the case, every ...
Steve King to NFL Commissioner: Apologize to Rush!
Iowa Independent —
Here’s an interesting confrontation from a hearing on the Hill Wednesday between Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. King said he’d “scoured” Rush Limbaugh’s infamous comment that the media was giving Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb too much credit because he was black and found no racism in it whatsoever — Limbaugh, said King, was calling out the media for reverse racism. Goodell and King went back and forth a bit, but King refused to budge on his position that Limbaugh was being smeared as a racist even though he’s colorblind about race. King went on to say that Goodell was ...
