McCain Adviser Lies, Says Palin Told People ‘How They’re Gonna Save Their Homes’ Last Night
Think Progress —
This morning on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, Time Magazine Jay Carney pointed out that Gov. Sarah Palin has yet to answer any questions on foreign or domestic policy. McCain adviser Nicole Wallace interjected, “Who cares?!” Wallace insisted that Palin “can answer the question” of how Americans can save their homes; in fact, Wallace erroneously said, Palin talked about it last night:
CARNEY: We don’t know yet and we won’t know until you guys allow her to take questions, you know, can she answer tough questions, you know, domestic policy, foreign policy–
WALLACE: But I mean like from who? From you? ...
Time's Carney: McCain camp has 'contempt' for voters
Michael Calderone's Blog —
Time Washington bureau chief Jay Carney strikes back against the McCain campaign's Nicole Wallace, who said on "Morning Joe" today: "Who cares if she can talk to Time magazine."
Wallace's bash-the-media exercise has its merits as a campaign tactic. It certainly rallies the base. But the base won't lift McCain to 50 percent in November. More importantly, in her smug dismissal of the media's role in asking questions of the candidates, Wallace was really showing contempt not for reporters, but for voters. I bet there are a lot of undecided voters out there who were intrigued by Sarah Palin last night, but who don't ...

According to Nicole Wallace of the McCain campaign, the American people don't care whether Sarah Palin can answer specific questions about foreign and domestic policy. According to Wallace -- in an appearance I did with her this morning on Joe Scarborough's show -- the American people will learn all they need to know (and all they deserve to know) from Palin's scripted speeches and choreographed appearances on the campaign trail and in campaign ads. Here's the exchange:

Clock is Ticking as McCain Campaign Hides Palin from the Press
Crooks and Liars —
On the same day Barack Obama met with the conservative water carrier Bill O’Reilly on Fox News, the McCain campaign made it clear that Sarah Palin won’t be talking to any of the media any time soon.
In a jaw-dropping appearance on MSNBC Thursday, McCain aide Nicole Wallace told Time’s Jay ...
A Palin cone of silence?
Hot Air » Top Picks —
A Palin cone of silence? posted at 10:03 am on September 5, 2008 by Ed Morrissey Send to a Friend | printer-friendly According to Jay Carney at Time , the strategy from Team McCain regarding Sarah Palin will be to have her avoid media appearances and have her focus on campaign stops and stump speeches. However, if the clip that Carney produces below is all the evidence anyone has for this, then I’d suggest that Carney take another look at it again. That isn’t what Nicole Wallace said at all, and it frankly proves her point about the mainstream media and its animus towards Palin and John McCain: Q. We know now that Sarah Palin can give one hell of ...
No Questions For Palin???
Open Left - Front Page —
Ooops! Written 2 hours ago as a draft diary. I DO have something more to say than Matt did.
Questions, schmestions! Nicole Wallace of the McCain campaign asks why Palin should talk to the press, when she can talk to the American people?
Jay Carney, dumped on by Wallace, is not so sure:
It's important to them [the American people] to know if Palin can handle herself in an environment that isn't controlled and sanitized by campaign image makers and message mavens. Maybe she can, maybe she can't. As far as Wallace is concerned, it's none of their -- or your -- ...

Palin Media Avoidance Watch, Day Seven
Political Punch —
Biden and AIPAC | Main Palin Media Avoidance Watch, Day Seven September 05, 2008 12:13 PM Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin was named to the Republican ticket one week ago, and she has yet to answer questions from reporters. Yes, some of the comments from the punditocracy about her have been untoward, even sexist, but given the importance of the job she accepted Wednesday night in her nomination speech, it's entirely reasonable for voters to expect Palin to answer questions from journalists about her positions and her record. If Sens. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, or Joe Biden, D-Del., refused to answer questions from the press, the RNC and the McCain campaign would ...

Palin Leaves Campaign Trail. Flees North.
Well this is interesting. Chuck Todd dropped a little bombshell this afternoon.
CHUCK TODD:Well Ron, We’ve been able to see that there are a few folks who are saying [Palin is] actually going to hole up in Alaska for a little, she’s got to see her son off who’s going to be deployed to Iraq, so we may not see her on the campaign trail for a little while.
RON ALLEN: Yes she hasn’t been home for a long time, and she’s obviously got some business to deal with there.

I had some less than charitable things to say to Time magazine’s Jay Carney when I addressed a question to him at a YKos 2007 panel. He seemed at the time to be the very essence of the Beltway Bubble Boy, sitting there looking like he was eating broken glass every time Glenn Greenwald opened his mouth, but I was appalled on his behalf by the behavior of McCain campaign’s spokesminx Nicole Wallace in the clip above.

Via the Politico: Sarah Palin has yet to meet the press
When political junkies flip through television stations on Sunday morning, they’ll find policy-driven interviews with three of the four candidates on the presidential tickets — John McCain, Barack Obama and Joe Biden. They won’t, though, see Sarah Palin.
Less than two months before voters hit the polls, Palin has yet to sit down for or even schedule an issues-oriented interview with any newspaper, magazine or television network.
Strategically, this is probably a good idea, as keeping her away from reporters diminished the chances ...
