McCain Camp: Northern Va Not 'Real Virginia'
Politics Daily —
Filed under: Republicans, John McCain, 2008 President, GaffesA McCain campaign aide, Nancy Pfotenhauer, told MSNBC today that northern Virginia is not part of the "Real Virginia." It was not, as you might think, an attempt to excuse McCain's failure to nominate a real VP. This follows on the heels of John McCain's brother referring to the region as "Communist country." The McCain spokesperson went on to discuss the rest of the state in a high-pitched, barely audible frequency: (h/t Jake Tapper) "I did say outside of north - well, I mean real Virginia, because northern Virginia is where ...
McCain Campaign: Northern Virginia Isn’t “Real” Virginia
Oliver Willis —
Because, you know they’ve got all those Democrats and minorities in Northern Virginia. Yesterday Sarah Palin said some states were pro-America and some weren’t. Now they’ve ratcheted it up so that even within some states the residents aren’t “real” Americans.
These people make me sick.

McCain Campaign: "Real Virginia" Is "Southern In Nature"
Daily Kos —
There is no level of desperation to which the flailing McCain campaign will not stoop. It is now their official position that the suburbs of our nation's capitol, home to millions of Americans, are not "real" because they aren't "Southern in nature." Here's McCain spokesman Nancy Pfotenhauer making the campaign's views clear on MSNBC earlier this morning:
...
Fake Virginia
Ben Smith's Blog —
Nancy Pfotenhauer picks a fight with Rep. Tom Davis and Jonathan Martin by saying that Northern Virginia -- which leans Democratic and home of McCain campaign HQ -- isn't "real Virginia" because it's just a suburb of DC.
At least it's better than "communist country."
Interesting Strategy

McCain aide says Northern Virginia isn't "real Virginia"
AMERICAblog News| A great nation deserves the truth —
There's so much that can be said about a top McCain aide trashing Northern Virginia. In fact, although it only happened a couple hours ago, a lot has already been said by Politico, the Associated Press and ABC News. Probably the best commentary is from Lowell at RK in a post titled, "McCain Campaign Channels George Allen: NOVA is not 'Real Virginia'": My god, how stupid can these McCain people be? First, they call Arlington and Alexandria "communist country." Then, Sarah Palin talks about how only the rural, "small town" (like Wasilla?) parts of America are "pro-America." Now, McCain spokeswoman Nancy Pfotenhauer ...
Obama Clobbering McCain in the Fake Parts of America But Losing Big in the Real Parts
Open Left - Front Page —
Barack Obama has surged into the lead in the superficial parts of the United States. For example, he is solidly ahead along the Pacific coast which is comprised of newer "fancy" states. Obama is also ahead in the phony Great Lakes states and the equally inauthentic states of the Northeast. Not surprisingly, Obama is popular in the D.C. area and in much of Virginia. In real Virginia, however, John McCain is dominant. McCain is authentic and naturally his message resonates with real Americans. Other parts of real American include: Alabama, Mississippi, Kentucky (well most of it), Tennessee, South Carolina and the gulf coast states. In fact, there's a ...
10/20: The Ultimate Obamacan?
Blogometer —
October 20, 2008 10/20: The Ultimate Obamacan? Unsurprisingly, conservative bloggers are playing down the importance of Gen. Colin Powell 's endorsement of Barack Obama . Jonathan Garthwaite calls it the "non-story of the year" while Hugh Hewitt asserts that "only Manhattan-Beltway elites think this matters." Several bloggers on the right are questioning Powell's motives and accusing him of endorsing Obama out of a desire to to curry favor with the media. Liberal bloggers, on the other hand, view Powell's endorsement as an unquestionably positive development for Obama, although they differ as to how much it will ultimately impact ...
Now John McCain wants all those Northern Virginias who aren't from "real Virginia" to vote for him
AMERICAblog News| A great nation deserves the truth —
What a difference a couple weeks makes. Two weeks ago, one of John McCain's top spokespeople dismissed the voters in Northern Virginia as not from "real Virginia": Today, McCain was begging those Northern Virginians to support him: "Fairfax County is key to this election. You know that," McCain said. "You know how important it is for us to win here. You know how important it is that we put this country in the right direction. I need your help for the next three days." Not real Virginian, but real voters. And, they're not ...
