Still more terrorist mail
Ben Smith's Blog — Jonathan Martin posts another RNC mailer, this one of a plane bearing down on an airport. It in Virginia and, apparently, Missouri, where McCain was handed it by KSDK, and said he was "absolutely" proud of it, according to the clip below, sent over by a Democrat.

What Makes John McCain Proud...
Swampland — UPDATE: More from JMart on that mailer. UPDATE2: See the full interview with KSDK in St. Louis here.

McCain "Absolutely" Proud Of Obama Terrorist Mailer
Politics on HuffingtonPost.com — Last week, the Republican National Committee sent out a particularly nasty mailer suggesting Barack Obama would talk to terrorist leaders. The mailer reads, "Barack Obama. Not Who You Think He Is," along with pictures that evoke the 9/11 hijackings. Asked if he was proud of the pamphlet by Missouri's KSDK, John McCain replied, "Absolutely."

Here We Go Again
democracyarsenal.org — If it's two weeks before an election it must be time for the scare tactics on terrorism.  The RNC's latest piece of mail is an attempt to scare voters by bringing up vivid images of terrorism.  And apparently McCain says he's proud of this piece. Here is the good news.  Republicans tried this in 2006, with an abonimable ticking time bomb advertisement and another ad that tried to scare voters by arguing that Democrats don't want to listen to terrorists making phone calls from Pakistan.  Those failed miserably.  And I think this is just another sign of desperation. ...

Jesse Lee: 14 Days Out: "No, No, We Don't Need That - We Just Need You to Vote"
Politics on HuffingtonPost.com — Jesse Lee is the Online Rapid Response Manager for the DNC, this is a daily update on the day's messaging. Yesterday Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke came out for a second stimulus plan for the first time, an idea Senator Obama has been pushing since January and which Speaker Pelosi has promised to bring up after the election. "Jobs, Baby, Jobs," as the distinguished Senator from New York put it last night in Florida. For McCain, having spent the crucial weeks of the market crisis wavering erratically only to end up following Obama's lead, he now faces a choice between following Obama again in supporting help for ordinary ...

Proud Of The Terrorist Mailer
The Daily Dish | By Andrew Sullivan — The real John McCain will not be forgotten.

Deep Thought
The Anonymous Liberal — If the Republican party is so "tough on terrorism," why is it that the people who live in places that terrorists have attacked or might conceivably attack--places like New York, Los Angeles, Washington D.C., etc.--always vote overwhelmingly Democratic?  And conversely, why is it that the people who claim to be the most concerned with fighting terrorism live in places that have precisely zero chance of ever being targeted by terrorists? I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that this terrorist mailer from the McCain campaign was sent almost entirely to people living in the safe zones. ...
