McCain Campaign Can't...Won't...Rule Out Gramm As Treasury Secretary
The Huffington Post | Full News Feed —
For those of you who have developed a fondness for Tucker Bounds-themed bondage and domination videos, here's another YouTube where David Shuster chortles his way through a segment in which Bounds cannot or will not bring himself to assure the American people that Phil Gramm - who recently called America a "nation of whiners" but who led the effort for the repeal of the Glass-Steagall Act that paved the way for the economic collapses of today - will not, under any circumstances, become Secretary of the Treasury in the McCain administration. If Bounds keeps at these sorts of "explanations," the world's supply of false equivalencies may run out by the first week of ...

Jesse Lee: 43 Days Out: If You Liked What We Did With Wall Street...
Politics on HuffingtonPost.com —
Jesse Lee is the Online Rapid Response Manager for the DNC, this is a daily update on the day's messaging.
Regrets, I've had a few... but not John McCain! John McCain's flip flop on his steady record of supporting deregulation (e.g. "I'm always for less regulation") might be somewhat more convincing if he showed just the slightest sense of reevaluation or regret. Well last night on 60 Minutes he got his big chance:
Scott Pelley: In 1999, you were one of the senators who helped pass deregulation of Wall Street. Do you regret that now?
John McCain: No, I think the deregulation was probably helpful to the growth ...
Monday's campaign round-up

MONDAY'S CAMPAIGN ROUND-UP.... Today's installment of campaign-related news items that wouldn't generate a post of their own, but may be of interest to political observers: * McCain campaign spokesperson Tucker Bounds was on MSNBC yesterday, and was pressed on whether McCain could rule out Phil Gramm as a possible Treasury Secretary. Bounds refused ...
McCain Spokesman Refuses To Say Gramm Won’t Be Treasury Secretary
Crooks and Liars —
Tucker Bounds, McCain campaign spokesman, is always good for a post when he’s allowed to come on the scene, if only to show just how ridiculously inane the McCain campaign has to be to deflect attention from itself. On MSNBC, Bounds refused to commit to David Shuster that Phil Gramm will ...
Clowning and geeking in politics
The Reality-Based Community —
[image] Clowning and geeking in politics Crooks and Liars treats this video as if the top news was Tucker Bounds's refusal to say flatly that Phil Gramm won't be Secretary of the Treasury in a McCain Administration. But to my eye that aspect is secondary to the fact that David Shuster is (literally) laughing out loud as Bounds keeps piling on the b.s. (Bounds is insisting that there's some sort of equivalency between McCain's relationship to his economic guru Phil Gramm and Barack Obama's non-relationship to Franklin Raines.) This reminds me of how Terry McAuliffe was treated by Chris Matthews when (as Josh Marshall said) McAuliffe was ...
