The free speech implications of the Fairness Doctrine aside (they’re important, don’t get me wrong), I think the other way to look at this issue is welfare for liberal talk radio flops like Bill Press and Ed Schultz. These people simply aren’t competitive in the talk radio market as is and want the government to step in and mandate that they get a certain amount of air time.
