Newt Gingrich refused to apologize to the nation’s conservatives tonight for backing far left liberal Dede Scozzafava in the NY-23 race and for attacking “misinformed” conservatives and candidate Hoffman:

No shit, really? We knew that before you did. Next time, scream, throw a tantrum, embarrass the hell out of the local party leaders if you have to, so we can avoid having an asshole liberal/progressive Quisling turncoat fifth-column RINO like Dede Scozzafava on a ballot.

Gingrich’s point, I think, is that he still thinks Republicans should have united behind the nominee for the sake of not splitting the center-right coalition and giving the Democrats a victory but that Scozzafava was probably the wrong pick from the get-go.
I disagree with him on the former, but couldn’t agree more on the latter.
