Woah! O'REILLY BLASTS BARNEY FRANK!... Out Bullies Bullying Dem Rep!
Gateway Pundit —
Woah!... O'Reilly Blasts Frank! Bill O'Reilly slammmmmmed Rep. Barney Frank, the failed Chairman of the House Services Committee for his role in the Fannie Mae-Freddie Mac scandal tonight. Frank tried to fire back but looked ridiculous. This was great TV. Bring some popcorn, Nahanni: Here is what Rep. Frank said about Fannie and Freddie back in 2003. It would be pretty funny if it didn't cost $700 billion: That is, in my view, the two government sponsored enterprises we are talking about here, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, are not in a crisis. ...
Barney Frank To O'Reilly: Your Stupidity Gets In The Way Of Rational Discussion
DownWithTyranny! —
Why would Barney Frank, or anyone interested in participating in a reasonable debate go on Fox at all, let alone on Bill O'Reilly's show. This is a Republican Party slaughterhouse and, although Barney handled himself very well... why bother? No Democrat should go on this asshole's program-- ever. ...
Bill O'Reilly vs. Barney Frank on Fannie
Weekly Standard Blog —
Come on, you know you want to watch. It's cathartic, and instructive for a certain presidential and VP candidate who need to make this part of their stump speeches (with a slightly more measured tone, perhaps).
O'Reilly Tears Barney Frank Apart Over Fannie and Freddie
NewsBusters.org - Exposing Liberal Media Bias —
Finally, someone in the media accurately accused and challenged a member of Congress over his involvement and complicity in the current financial crisis. As press member after press member has allowed Democrats to shamefully and erroneously blame the current crisis on George W. Bush, virtually nobody other than folks at Fox News has been willing to examine the role elected officials on the left side of the aisle have been playing for more than a decade in blocking tighter regulation on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. That changed Thursday when Fox's Bill O'Reilly absolutely tore Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) apart ...

HOUSE SHOCKER- Pelosi Bites Tongue--Focuses On National Crisis Not Bush ...Update: Bailout Bill Passes
Gateway Pundit —
Well. After her disgraceful speech on Monday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi at least did not Bush-bash too much today in promoting the bipartisan bailout bill. Her actions on Monday caused a trillion dollar drop in the stock market. Pelosi brags about the mental health provision and other pork that they jammed into the bailout package. The provision would force insurance companies to cover mental health benefits. Won't that cost insurance companies billions? Shameful. That kinda takes away from the seriousness of what they call the worst financial crisis since the ...
O’Reilly Teabags My Boy Lollypop
Six Meat Buffet —
I must say that I think O’Reilly is a complete douchebag, but I’m glad somebody is taking Ms. Frank to task for his lies and corruption. I’m sure Barney was bouncing from gloryhole to gloryhole in D.C. while he was supposed to be watching the henhouse.
Semi-off-topic, the best analysis I’ve seen of the current economic crisis is here. Thanks to Dan for the education.
House Passes Bailout Package; Taxpayers Be Damned
A Blog For All —
The $700 billion bailout package was passed by the House a short time ago. The version that passed the house included dozens of unrelated provisions, including AMT inflation adjustments, and multiple tax credit and extenders that helped smooth the way to pass the bailout, despite the fact that no one could adequately explain how and why we're throwing up to $700 billion at a problem, the cause of which remains unfixed. This has plenty to do with Rep. Barney Frank and other Democrats who refused to deal with the massive problem over financial industries and pushing affordable housing to those who could never repay because they had poor credit or bad credit. I'm ...

BARNEY FRANK ON THE O’REILLY FACTOR ‘DISCUSSING’ THE FINANCIAL CRISIS

Naming Names Thanks to Eric I have this bit of news about the housing crisis. Of all the characteristics of a successful politician, none is more essential than bare-faced cheek. Never has this been more evident than in the past fortnight, as senior Democrat members of the US legislature have sought to lay all the blame for the country's financial crisis on the executive arm of Government and Wall Street. Neither of these two institutions is blameless - far from it. Yet when I see such senior Democrats as Barney Frank, Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, and Christopher Dodd, Chairman of the Senate's Banking Committee, play the part of ...

FRANKLY CORRUPT
Dr. Sanity —
Gee, isn't this interesting? Unqualified home buyers were not the only ones who benefitted from Massachusetts Rep. Barney Frank’s efforts to deregulate Fannie Mae throughout the 1990s. So did Frank’s partner, a Fannie Mae executive at the forefront of the agency’s push to relax lending restrictions. Now that Fannie Mae is at the epicenter of a financial meltdown that threatens the U.S. economy, some are raising new questions about Frank's relationship with Herb Moses, who was Fannie’s assistant director for product initiatives. Moses worked at the government-sponsored enterprise from 1991 to 1998, while Frank was on the House Banking ...
It’s Fox News’ Screaming Bill O’Reilly Versus Democrat Barney Frank
The Moderate Voice —
Once upon a time people could go on TV shows and if a host didn’t like a politician’s answer they would nail them with facts over and over, then move onto another question and nail them with more facts in their follow ups. NBC’s late, lamented Tim Russert did hit homework, displayed it and kept his interviews on a world-class political level.
The flip side is Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly, a mega-ratings winner, and someone with a broadcast background. Just watch this clip. Partisan Republicans will love it. Partisan Democrats will hate it. But the larger issue is what it says about how far political discussion has fallen in America ...

101: How Barney Frank, The Dems, And Their Poor Minority Constituents Created The Current Global Financial Crisis - W/Video
Pat Dollard | Young Americans —
“The private sector got us into this mess. The government has to get us out of it.”
That’s U.S. congressman Barney Frank’s story, and he’s sticking to it. As the Massachusetts Democrat has explained it in recent weeks, the current financial crisis is the spawn of the free market run amok, with the political class guilty only of failing to rein in the capitalists. The Wall Street meltdown was caused by “bad decisions that were made by people in the private sector,” Frank said; the country is in dire straits today “thanks to a conservative philosophy that says the market knows best.” That ...

Suuuure you do. Given his penchant for unctuous filibustering and Killer Kelly’s flair for third-degree theatrics, this was the most predictable trainwreck shoutfest since O’Reilly went toe to toe with Barney Frank . I can only assume that’s why Fox booked him; there’s no value to this apart from the rubbernecking quotient. In case you don’t make it to the end, yes, she does indeed end up cutting his mike. Exit question: Did I miss it or did ...
Barney Frank calls Justice Scalia a homophobe -- video here
Top of the Ticket —
Democrat Barney Frank of Massachusetts is usually in the news talking about the banking crisis, those obscene AIG bonuses or some aspect of an economic meltdown that has put him at the center of epic congressional battles over bailouts, stimulus plans and government incentives.
Long a target of Fox News' Bill O'Reilly for his role in abetting the collapse of Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac, Frank, chairman of the much-in-the-news House Financial Services Committee, has a full plate of headline-inducing responsibilities. But Frank, the first openly gay member of Congress, recently gave an interview ...

The devil's in the non-TARP
SCSUScholars —
I feel like I fawn over this website a bit in my posts, but Keith Hennessey does a great service in costing out all of the bailout (so far). It confirms a couple of points I've tried to make. First, the part that angered many voters last fall -- the bailout of banks directly, through what became the Capital Purchase Program -- has paid back $.87 on the dollar. In a perverse way, the bait-and-switch of the Obama administration with its focus on executive pay and other interferences in the banks probably increased the return on that bit of TARP. ("Perverse" insofar as if you wanted to help them and really worried about their finances, you wouldn't want to incentivize them ...

The Wall Street Journal ’s latest headline is “Fannie Mae Loss Balloons; Says Needs Treasury For Survival”. Obviously. But not so obviously, who does Treasury need for survival? Choose one from the multiple choice selection below. The taxpayer; The printing press; None of the above. The story, sourced from the Dow Jones New Wire said: Fannie Mae (FNM) posted a sharply wider second-quarter loss on $18.8 billion of credit-related impacts as delinquencies continued to surge and the company admitted it is reliant on the government’s help to stay in business. The mortgage financier, placed under conservatorship in September to prevent its potential implosion, requested another ...
