Vindicated by the caucuses
Ben Smith's Blog — In Des Moines, Obama riffed on what he described as an underdog victory in Iowa in January. "On the day of the Iowa caucus my faith in the American poeple was vindicated, and what you started here in Iowa has swept the nation," he said. Obama referred to the high turnout and high volunteerims: "A whole new way of doing democracy started right here in Iowa," he said. It's a slightly odd thing to say, though: Would his faith not have been vindicated if he'd lost?
