The Jawa Report: The Biggest Winner Loser in the Blogosphere
Little Miss Attila —
The Jawa Report: The Biggest Winner Loser in the Blogosphere "Astroturfing" by a huge PR firm Winner & Associates, with ties to the Barack Obama campaign might actually have been aided, financed, or encouraged by "The King of Astroturfing," Axlerod himself, who works for . . . um, who was that? Oh, yeah: Barack Obama. The idea was to discredit McCain's VP pick with more than just her family's traumas. At issue is a video clip about Sarah Palin that attempts to exaggerate her links to the Alaskan Independence Party, a week after the rumor that she'd been a member of that group had been debunked. (And, of course, there are still "grassroots" ...
Astroturf Smears - With Ties to Obama?
Say Anything —
Jawa asserts: Our research suggests that a subdivision of one of the largest public relations firms in the world most likely started and promulgated rumors about Sarah Palin that were known to be false. These rumors were spread in a surreptitious manner to avoid exposure.
It is also likely that the PR firm was paid by outside sources to run the smear campaign. While not conclusive, evidence suggests a link to the Barack Obama campaign.
Jawa then lists eight points, followed by an interesting update:
Within 1 ...
Sarah Palin Watch: The Anatomy of an Orchestrated “Grassroots” Smear Campaign

Dr. Rusty Shackleford of My Pet Jawa dissects the anatomy of an organized grassroots effort to spread false information about Alaska Governor Sarah Palin.

Absolute Moral Authority —
Not the Hope and Change that Obama claims to have known. Right.

Is the Obama Campaign Behind Anti-Palin Online Smears?
Weekly Standard Blog —
At The Jawa Report blog Rusty Shackleford reports that a professional PR firm appears to be spreading false attacks against Sarah Palin on the Internet.
A YouTube video that appears to have been produced by the PR firm Winner & Associates falsely claims Sarah Palin is a member of the Alaskan Independence Party. Shackleford has evidence that Jared Liu-Klein, an Associate at Winner & Associates, posted this video on website DemocraticUnderground.com more than a week after reports of Sarah Palin's membership in the party had been debunked.
I just spoke with Liu-Klein on the phone and asked him ...
Ethan Winner Responds: Claims He Produced Video
The Jawa Report —
September 22, 2008 Ethan Winner Responds: Claims He Produced Video Ethan Winner responds. Written like a VP in a public relations firm that specializes in crisis management and grassroots organization. I'll post the whole thing below. He produced the video? He paid for the voice-over narration which he found through a talent agency? The voice-over artist has never done any work for the Obama campaign? Uh, yeah, right. He then goes on to sidestep the question of the lie he puts forth in the video: that Palin was a member of the Alaskan Indepence Party -- which she wasn't. That is empirical fact. Instead, in his carefully crafted ...
The Hazards of Online Video Play
Swampland —
Conservative blogs have been in a tizzy today about the circumstantial case made by The Jawa Report that a YouTube video attacking Sarah Palin as a secessionist could possibly have ties to the Obama campaign. Ethan Winner, a Los Angeles public relations specialist, who posted the video under the nome de plume "eswinner" has released a statement saying that the Obama campaign had nothing to do with the video. (The video was based, in part, on an erroneous report in the New York Times that Palin had been a member of the Alaskan Independence Party. She was not, though her husband, Todd, did join, and she spoke at the party's ...
Jawa gets results!
Ben Smith's Blog —
The Jawa Report, which tracked this anti-Palin YouTube to a previously little-known Democratic P.R. guy, and spun a rather vast conspiracy from that, gets a statement from him taking credit for the video, and denying he did it at the Obama campaign's behest. (The slender evidence of an Obama link: The voiceover artist sounds kind of similar to one used by the campaign.)
The P.R. guy, Ethan Winner, emails the Jawas:
I produced and posted on the Internet the video entitled "Sarah Palin: A Heartbeat Away."
The idea for the video was mine. No one paid me to produce it. The only out-of-pocket cost ...
PR Firm Linked to Obama's Campaign Manager Behind Palin Smear
Jim Treacher's Blog That Is on the Internet —
PR Firm Linked to Obama's Campaign Manager Behind Palin Smear jawa.jpg ...is a headline you'll never see in the New York Times , even though David Axelrod's associate Ethan Winner has just admitted putting up that false, defamatory "Palin is a secessionist" ad on Youtube. Do you think you'd see this headline? PR Firm Linked to McCain's Campaign Manager Behind Biden Smear I'm guessing you would. Although such a smear would be a waste of time and money on McCain's part, because the only thing you need to make Biden look bad is a piece of duct tape that is not placed over his mouth . Winner_Ethan.jpg Are you ...
Holy Crap, a SECOND Winner Palin Smear Video? Michelle on Fox
The Jawa Report —
September 24, 2008 Holy Crap, a SECOND Winner Palin Smear Video? Michelle on Fox I really don't have time for this, but it has to be said: mucho important. While watching the Fox News segment interviewing Michelle Malkin on the Ethan Winner Palin smear video I noticed that it wasn't the same videol Spot the difference. Original Ethan Winner video: Here's the video of Michelle on Fox this morning. The ad starts about 25 seconds in. They don't run it all, and they may have spliced part of the middle of the video to the beginning ("quotes from the founder") but there is a part of their version which differs significantly from the original. Spot it, ...
Dick Morris: Obama's Relationship with Ayers “the equivalent of having a close relationship with Osama bin Laden.
News Hounds —
Sean Hannity couldn't throw enough Bill Ayers mud at Barack Obama last night (10/6/08) on Hannity & Colmes. But Dick Morris took the cake by accusing Obama of having the equivalent of a close relationship with Osama bin Laden. Can saying that Obama is the equivalent of Osama bin Laden be far off? With video.
Hannity is hardly one to be playing the guilt by association game with anyone else. He has never answered questions about his own past association with a Neo-Nazi/white supremacist and as recently as the night before, Hannity presented a brazen anti-Semite as a credible guest. Nevertheless, Hannity and Palin are now on ...
McCain's Allies Deserting Him-- Soon Only Palin's Terrorist Buddies Will Be Willing To Pal Around With Him
DownWithTyranny! —
Turns out the only difference was a muzzle, not lipstick McCain and his pet pit bull (with the lipstick) like to say they represent business. In McCain's case, marrying a rich gangster's pretty daughter certainly paid well but unless you want to count that as "business," the only relationship McCain has had with ...
