Obama Speaks About Ft. Hood But First Gives "A Shout Out" To Someone In The Audience
Ace of Spades HQ —
Obama Speaks About Ft. Hood But First Gives "A Shout Out" To Someone In The Audience Priorities. Linda Chavez calls it Obama's My Pet Goat Moment. I think she's wrong since the media is editing it down to cut the opening lines out.
Leadership: Obama Thanks Cabinet And Gives Shout Outs On Conference Before Addressing Ft. Hood
Say Anything —
A tragedy that appears at this point to have been a coordinated attack by ranking officers on a US military base deserves a bit more gravitas than this:
After eight years of hearing the liberals both in and out of the media bemoan President Bush’s “My Pet Goat” moment (apparently they expected him to go charging out of that classroom with an M16 in his hands the moment he heard about 9/11) don’t expect them to breathe a word about this gaffe.

PBO's 'My Pet Goat' Moment
Moonbattery —
Watch as PBO gives a "shout out" to a friend in the audience, then glibly yammers on about some conference, and then... finally ... acknowledges the Fort Hood shooting.
I just don't like this guy. I mean, this is how he treats a somber moment like this? With a "shout-out" to some guy in the audience. I can hear ...
Attack at Fort Hood
Stop The ACLU —
Attack at Fort Hood Posted on November 5, 2009 I just got off of work, and came home to reports of a massacre at Fort Hood . The motive is unclear, and it’s also not known exactly how many shooters there are. The details keep varying. What is known is this: we have twelve soldiers murdered and thirty-one soldiers wounded. One gunman has been captured and identified at Major Malik Nadal Hasan. His religion and motive is unknown. Two other suspects are in custody. And one other shooter was killed. (And before we get too carried away calling this a terrorist attack, let’s wait for the facts.) All three of the people believed to have carried out the shooting were ...

I don’t think this is a My Pet Goat moment, unless Linda means one which is going to be taken totally out of context. Bush stayed calm, waited for the facts to come in, and didn’t start running around. He let the professionals do their jobs. Obama, on the other hand, seemed to need to stroke his own ego before faking being sad.

The Narrative: Hasan Was Suffering From Mental Problems. Subtext: So Are All Soldiers And It's Bush's Fault
Ace of Spades HQ —
The Narrative: Hasan Was Suffering From Mental Problems. Subtext: So Are All Soldiers And It's Bush's Fault Deviate and you are clearly inciting hatred. Newsbusters has a few examples of the developing narrative . Whatever you do, ignore the potential for jihad. Things like ... Soldiers reported that the gunman shouted "Allahu Akbar!" an Arabic phrase for "God is great!" before opening fire, said Lt. Gen. Robert Cone, the base commander. He said officials had not confirmed that Hasan made the comment. Or this . He gave a Grand Rounds presentation. . . You take turns giving a lecture on, you know, the correct treatment of schizophrenia, the right ...
President Insensitive Meet Dr. Psychobabble
Gates of Vienna —
Evidently even the Chicago Press is terming this glimpse of the “disconnected” Obama his “frightening insensitivity”: As Weasel Zippers says of this video: I just want to restate the disgust I have for our President. I keep hearing him say ‘outburst of violence’. Why this choice of words? Why belittle the action? Why make it sound like he’s talking about a 4 year old throwing a fit? I can only come up with one answer and it frightens me to the core. We know he doesn’t see a purpose for the military, but his speech yesterday proves that he hates the military. That he would side ...
