Best Moment Ever :
Sasha and Malia, I love you both so much, and you have earned the new puppy that's coming with us to the White House.

If there is anyone out there who still doubts that America is a place where all things are possible; who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time; who still questions the power of our democracy, tonight is your answer.
It's the answer told by lines that stretched around schools and churches in numbers this nation has never seen; by people who waited three hours ...

Election night with over 70 million TV viewers
AMERICAblog News| A great nation deserves the truth —
Even here in Barcelona, I was impressed to see so many stations (was it 3 or 4?) with coverage throughout the night. I flipped channels until around 2 AM or so and the local channels were still discussing every inch of the campaign and showing interviews and updates from Chicago and Arizona. On Wednesday morning the talk for the Americans over here was all about the election results but the same was true of the EMEA folks that I met. Even they talked about shedding a few tears as they watched Obama speak ...
William Bradley: The America That Can Be/The America That Has Been
Politics on HuffingtonPost.com —
President-elect Barack Obama's victory speech Tuesday night in Chicago.
It was the America That Can Be vs. the America That Has Been. The future won. Yet there is much in the past that is of enduring value.
I must say that this campaign, for all its excitement, its twists and turns, and its thrilling outcome, was something of a disappointment. In Barack Obama, the representative of an exotic ...

Ranking Obama’s Best Speeches: Part 2 of 2 ( Terence Kane ) In case you missed the first part of this series, you can click here to catch up with the list. I started Part 1 of the blog by mentioning the hype surrounding Obama’s inaugural address. If I was to give Obama one piece of advice for that speech, I would suggest going back and watching all the available video of first presidential inaugural addresses and making sure yours doesn’t sound like theirs. Last week I went to the newly opened Newseum for the first time and watched their video exhibit on inauguration speeches, and they were all remarkably similar — and not in a good ...

2008 Weblog Awards - Performance Counts! As if you needed another reason to vote for smalldeadanimals.com as the leading conservative voice in the North American blogosphere... [image] We managed to get our guy elected. So, let's review, shall we? The 2008 contest for "Best Conservative Blog" offers a field of 14. One nominated blog singlehandedly turned back the liberal hordes in Ottawa and the socialist hordes in Saskatchewan. The other thirteen managed to empower Helen Thomas. So, my dear American conservative cousins - think about that before you choose that little yellow circle. This is your ...
William Bradley: "Post-Partisanship": How It Works, How It Doesn't
Politics on HuffingtonPost.com —
Then President-elect Barack Obama, delivering his victory speech, stressed post-partisan themes.
Back in 2007, when he was still an underdog candidate for president jousting with John Edwards (remember him?), Barack Obama said that he liked the "post-partisan" posturings of Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. Now, as president, he's adopted much the same tack, to the dismay of hyper-partisans of all stripes.
They ought to be dismayed, because it works. To a point.
But not in a linear sense.
Let's take a look at how it went in California, and how it ...
