Pressure builds on Obama to release his Blagojevich contacts
Top of the Ticket —
In case you're wondering about that list President-elect Obama promised a few days ago to release in "a few days" detailing all of his office's contacts with accused Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich about the vacation U.S. Senate seat, the Republican National Committee would like to fan your doubts.
Saturday it released a short videotape (see below) detailing some of Obama's connections to and statements about the governor, who is allegedly on FBI wiretaps trying to selling his nomination to the highest bidder.
Both Obama and U.S. Atty. Patrick Fitzgerald have ...
The RNC helpfully puts an Obama/Blagojevich video together.
RedState: Conservative News and Community —
Via the LA Time’s Top of the Ticket, which is getting just a little tired of the way that this thing has gone from being “what could have been a one- or two-day state scandal story into nearly a week-long saga now involving a new national leader who promised to change the way the people’s business is done.” If you watch the video, you’ll see that MSNBC shares this opinion.
Yup, MSNBC.

RNC links Obama and Blagoveich in Web Video
Political Punch —
Previous | Main RNC links Obama and Blagoveich in Web Video December 14, 2008 10:37 AM From Matt Jaffe and Sunlen Miller: It's been three days since President-elect Barack Obama said at a press conference that "in the next few days" he would share the facts of what contacts his staff had with Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, who was arrested last Tuesday and charged with attempting to sell Obama's vacant U.S. Senate seat. It seems Republicans are getting impatient. Today the Republican National Committee released a video highlighting links between Obama and Blagojevich. The two-minute web video, called "Questions Remain", ...

Does O deserve that? Once, new Presidents got a "honeymoon" -- even after they took office. But there's no honeymoon for Obama, who's been plagued all along by one bad friend after another. (Video via Andrew Malcolm, via Instapundit.) ...
Obama’s Unanswered Questions
Say Anything —
The RNC is demanding that Obama come clean with the American public about his dealings with disgraced Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich.
And, frankly, what honest person in this country can disagree?
Obama has some explaining to do. Unfortunately, the media seems too busy trying to minimize Gov. Blago’s misdeeds to demand those explanations.

Video: New RNC ad hammers Obama over Blagojevich posted at 4:10 pm on December 14, 2008 by Allahpundit Send to a Friend | Share on Facebook | printer-friendly Too much too soon? McCain’s other killer centrist soundbite this morning on ABC was to scold the RNC for releasing this at a time when “we should try to be working constructively together.” Althouse, meanwhile, deems it a “Blagosmear,” which is a bit further than I’d go given that Emanuel evidently did chat with Blago about the seat and has been suspiciously quiet thus far regarding what he did — and didn’t — say about it. Like the ad says, ...

McCain scolds GOP for whacking Obama
By MIKE ALLEN
The Politico
12/14/08
In a surprising rebuke to the warriors who fought for him through tough times, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) on Sunday sided with President-elect Barack Obama and scolded the Republican National Committee for fanning the Illinois corruption scandal.
On ABC’s “This Week,” host George Stephanopoulos asked: “The chairman of the Republican National Committee, Mike ...
The RNC Tests The Politics Of The New
The Atlantic Politics Channel —
Since the November presidential election, the Republican National Committee has been entombed in a bit of psychological stasis. First, everyone there had to take a vacation, which slowed down the metabolism. Then, RNC chairman Mike Duncan decided to run for re-election, which complicates what the party can and cannot do, lest Duncan look like he's using the levers of power to help his campaign. ...
Will GOP Go Too Far in Tying Blago to Obama?
David Corn —
I was on C-SPAN this past weekend, discussing all sorts of things. (You should be able to see the program here, but as of this writing the link was not yet operational.) And the host played the latest Republican Party ad, which, no shocker, tries to tie Barack Obama to Rod Blagojevich. Take a look:
Ominous music. Grainy footage. Headlines showing that Obama--OMG!--once supported Blagojevich. References in news reports noting that Obama aides might have had talked to Blagojevich about filling the Senate seat Obama vacated. And the kicker: "Questions Remain." ...

Newt To RNC: Give The Blago-Obama Thing A Rest

Newt To RNC: Give The Blago-Obama Thing A Rest McCain I expect this stuff from , but Newt? I seem to remember a young(er) Newt throwing rhetorical bombs on the floor of the House at some point and even having some success with that strategy but not now. I was saddened to learn that at a time of national trial, when a president-elect is preparing to take office in the midst of the worst financial crisis in over seventy years, that the Republican National Committee is engaged in the sort of negative, attack politics that the voters rejected in the 2006 and 2008 election cycles. What Is Wrong With Certain Republicans?
Tammy Bruce —
Time for the cornfield.
Can someone please explain what is possessing these men? Is age making them sentimental to the point of delusion? What, exactly, is so difficult about standing by clear, distinctive conservative principles, coupled with having the courage to speak the truth? First it was McCain complaining about the more than appropriate and very needed RNC Blago/Obama ad, and now it's Gingrich. These old men need to concentrate on golfing or needlepoint. They need, simply, to fade away into a sunset where they can do no further damage.
