Has anyone figured out that while members of this Administration and Congress are promoting a single payor healthcare option for us, they will continue to have their healthcare delivered through the "very rich" private plan that has always been available to them.  If it is good enough for us, it should be good enough for them.  Think of the money that would save.  With upwards of 70% of Americans relatively satisfied with their current healthcare, why are we destroying it to satisfy the others - many of whom who have it available to them, but don't want to pay for it.  France has nationalized healthcare - and it only pays 70% of what they  think you should be charged.  You either pay the difference, or purchase a supplement that will.  Not to mention the high taxes that you pay there, and any other country that offers "cradle to grave" benefits.  Next in line will be the rationing of healthcare that is already in motion.  I wonder how that would have worked out for Sen.'s Kennedy and Specter - to take a look at their age and condition - think it would have been approved?

    *Steps up on his soapbox*

Ok here's the deal. I lived in Australia for roughly 3 years right at the en of the 90's and into the year 2000. I was witness and a rather UN-willing participant of thier "Universal Healthcare" system. Let me put it bluntly. It is not worth it whatsoever. Yes I could walk into a Doc's office and be seen and pay nothing, but the doctors didn't give two hoots about you and were sadly pathetic practitioners. They couldn't diagnose issues half the time. If you wanted or needed surgery or something of that nature, expect to wait between a minimum of 6 months to 5 years in a Wait List. most likely you're gonna die if thats the case if it was life threatening. Only grace was if you bought private insurance and went to the front of the line.

Now how do they intend to pay for this lil nugget of joy? I'll tell ya. Taxes. Big Fat honkin TAXES. look at all the countries with this setup. They all have astronimical Tax rates. I was paying 46% of my paycheck each month to taxes. The bulk of it was to pay for the healthcare. Oh and I did have a pretty bad issue happen while I was living there and never got treated for it because I was 11 months down the Waitlist to get the procedure done. I returned to the States before then and it only took me 2 weeks to get consulted, booked, and taken care of. Oh and I only had cheap basic insurance that anyone can afford...imagine that. I know it looks good on paper but in reality...the whole system is flawed and proven to not work...and costs EVERYONE more in the long run. It would require a major restructuring of the financial and federal systems of the entire nation. We would grind to a halt and slam face first into a brick wall laden with rusty nails sticking out of it.

Now I will admit I may have a bias as many members of my family are in the Private Insurance business, but I am being neutral from both sides. What I state now is based on my own view from experience & education....

Who is going to find jobs for all the Employees within the industry once this takes place? This is going to easily put atleast 30,000 - 50,000 people on the Unemployment line. Who knows, maybe more than that. Most of these folks only know insurance and will be forced to return to school for a new career, some won't even have enough time to do anything due to age, others might get lucky to find a job selling thier souls on the streets. This is purely going into a direction that does NOT work for the country. Putting poeple out of jobs is contrary to what I thought this worthless new Administration supposedly said. Does Obama have a plan in place to compensate the thousands of poeple that will loose thier jobs? (Some I know are the sole breadwinners of a household). Tell ya what...They hand each one of those folks that looses thier job, to this woefully failed ideology, $1.5M severence check, not a penny less or more, for a lifetime of lost wages (Bear in mind most insurance agents earn on average $90k-$125k per year...so $1.5M is a pittance in the overall picture). I would like Mr. Obama, his fellow Politicians, Mrs. Obama and all the other Mothers supporting this out there to go and speak to EACH child of those poeple about to loose thier jobs and explain to them why thier parents were forced out of a job by the Government and thier Nation's leader for an idea that only benefits the Lazy & Illegal Immigrants...but even then those that benefit will learn it was better left alone as it is. Yes I want them to look into thier eyes and tell them they can no longer do that afterschool activity that Mom & Dad can't afford anymore, or that dream of being a Figure Skater or a Singer is not gonna happen because they can't afford the lessons anymore, Or why their parents divorced over the stress of money and the dire situation they have been placed in.

I could go on and on about this and never be finished but I think the point is understood...atleast my point of view that is.

Due to all the freeloaders, whiners, ignorant minorities, immigrants wanting everything thier way and complaining if it doesn't get handed to them or done to their satisfaction...WE have to deconstruct everything built and turn ourselves into what is fast becoming a Communist State.

Videos: The real goal of health-care “reform”
Hot Air » Top Picks — Videos: The real goal of health-care “reform” posted at 9:23 am on April 28, 2009 by Ed Morrissey Send to a Friend | Share on Facebook | printer-friendly The Obama administration and Congressional Democrats want to pass a $634 billion health-care reform bill that they claim will not crowd out private insurers but will only restructure health-care delivery more rationally. One of its co-sponsors, though, lets the cat out of the bag while drumming up support in Chicago earlier this month. Rep. Jan Schakowsky tells the audience that the bill is a Trojan horse for single-payer, and that she’s not interested in waging a “principled fight”, as Verum Serum ...

Democrat Congresswoman: Obama Health Care Plan Will Destroy Private Health Care Industry
Say Anything — Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) is saying that Obama’s health care plans will destroy the private health care industry.  And of course they will.  That’s the point.  Destroy the private sector and make everyone dependent on the government.  It’s just that it usually isn’t good for liberals to just come right out and say stuff like that. For the record, this is the same woman who called the tea parties “despicable and shameful.” Now, maybe some of you are thinking that it would be ok for the government to run health care.  After all, ...

Public and private
Belmont Club — Is it a good idea or bad idea to drive private health insurance out of business as this Congresswoman seems happy to do? embedded by Embedded Video YouTube Direkt In Australia you can purchase private health cover despite the fact that it has a public health service. I’ve got cover for the whole family and this does two things. First, people who get private cover unload the public system, leaving it to focus on the elderly and the poor. Second, it gives people the freedom to consume more than the public system provides. Although it is possible to offset private insurance payments against the tax bill, the double tap means that those who get private insurance probably ...

The taxman cometh
Belmont Club — Open thread. Will Obama’s new tax compliance initiatives drive more companies overseas or is it simply a way of getting tax cheats to pay their fair share to the public coffers? President Barack Obama will flesh out a proposal included in his February budget blueprint seeking to curb the practice of parking foreign earnings in offshore tax havens indefinitely. By some estimates, $700 billion or more in U.S. corporate earnings have accumulated in overseas accounts in recent years. The plan to be announced Monday will go further. It aims to change the legal treatment of offshore subsidiaries and structures that companies have used to avoid not only U.S. taxes, but taxes in other ...
