Yesterday, speaking from the floor of the House, Rep. Virginia Foxx stumbled into some tricky rhetorical territory. Using her pen for emphasis, she declared, "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on you." (h/t Media Matters)
Rep. Foxx isn't the first Republican to have gotten into trouble with the "fool me once" phraseology. In 2002, "W" Bush said: "There's an old saying in Tennessee -- I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee -- that says, fool me once, shame on -- shame on you. Fool me -- you can't get fooled again." ...
Uhh ... huh?

This was yesterday. Really, is this the best North Carolina can do for the House of Representatives? Admittedly, her hero, G.W. Bush, stumbled on this one too. Maybe it's time we instituted some kind of A.S.S. (Adage Sensibility Survey) to these clowns before we let them leave the state.
