GOP Rep. Caught Saying "Liberals Hate Real Americans," Fibbing About It
TPM Election Central —
Looks like another Republican has been caught making the "Real America" slur against liberals -- and then trying to fib his way out of it.
At a McCain rally over the weekend in North Carolina, Rep. Robin Hayes (R-NC) -- who is in a very tough race against Democrat Larry Kissell -- reportedly told the crowd: "Liberals hate real Americans that work and achieve and believe in God."
A spokesman for the Hayes campaign categorically denied that Hayes said any such thing. But then this audio of Hayes saying exactly that began to circulate:
Confronted with the ...
NC-08: Hayes Denies Having Smeared Liberals, Audio Proves Otherwise
Daily Kos —
We wrote yesterday about Robin Hayes' disgraceful comments at a McCain-Palin rally yesterday, about how "liberals hate real Americans who work and achieve and believe in God". Hayes had prefaced his comments by saying that he wanted to be sure "not to say something stupid". Apparently what he meant was, he didn't actually want to be quoted saying anything stupid, so as to retain plausible deniability. Because he flatly denies making the comments. He claims that the national press were there and nobody wrote about it, so the New York Observer's Jason Horowitz (who broke the story) must have ...
McCain rally: Liberals hate America
AMERICAblog News| A great nation deserves the truth —
John McCain's Hate Talk Express continues. And the best part, the neanderthal Republican congressman who made the comments, Robin Hayes, now saying he never said any such thing. Yeah, too bad it was caught on tape, liar:

NC-08: Hayes admit he said what he said
Daily Kos —
Dumbasses. Rep. Robin Hayes (R-N.C.) has conceded that he did tell a North Carolina crowd that "liberals hate real Americans that work and accomplish and achieve and believe in God," even though he initially denied making such a statement. Now he says he didn’t mean it that way and he was just trying to rev up a campaign rally. "I genuinely did not recall making the statement and, after reading it, there is no doubt that it came out completely the wrong way. I actually was trying to work to keep the crowd as respectful as possible, so this is definitely not what I intended," Hayes said in a ...
Robin Hayes clarifies his ‘real Americans’ remarks with gay bashing

Rep. Robin Hayes (R-NC08), after his campaign was caught in a flat-out lie over his comments at a rally that ”liberals hate real Americans that work and achieve and believe in God” that happened to be recorded, finally decided to issue a “clarification”, saying his comments “came out wrong.”
And lo and behold, the homo-hate came spilling out as well. Matt Comer at QNotes: He said he was trying to draw a distinction on the differences between liberals and conservatives but ...
"Worser Person in the World" attacks my campaign as "Illegal!?!"
BlueNC - The people's think tank —
Even as my opponent's 'Hate' remarks continue to stalk him, perhaps even to the grave as the GOP just added Robin Hayes to their "Death List" of lost causes, the flailing Republican incumbent from North Carolina's 8th District isn't going down without a fight... or a least a lie.
Multi-millionaire Robin Hayes and his close friends in the Big Oil, Drug and Insurance industries have stepped up the attacks on my campaign and very name, and folks this time it's a WHOPPER.
First let me introduce my opponent, Robin Hayes, the deciding vote for President Bush's Fast Track and CAFTA who was "flat-out, completely, ...
