Ari Berman is a pretty smart guy-- and not taken to buying into wildfire tabloid type rumors. In today's Nation he's wondering if Sarah Palin might be John McCain's Tom Eagleton, another VP candidate who wasn't vetted properly... and had to resign after being nominated. Or, worse yet, Bernie Kerik! I wonder if the lobbyists who run McCain's campaign for him knew that she wanted Alaska to secede from the union; that seems like a strange postion for a vice-president, no?
