Vigilant CyberCitizen Do we not require all members of Congress to demonstrate their understanding of the constitution and swear allegiance to it? What part of "Freedom of Speech" does this man not understand? Are we going to need an alternative to using FCC controlled cyberspace? Is there someone stopping liberals from broadcasting their points of view on radio? Or is it just that they can't muster up the sponsors for such a small listening audience?
I think the questions are, after reading recent studies that document the biased news coverage of network television news - what part of their viewing time are they going to give up to the underrepresented conservatives of America?
Also, I think it's time to push for an end to public funding of NPR.

Watch this ignorant and arrogant lout (Chuck Schumer D-Fascist) use classic moral relativism to argue for "consistency" as the reason to use government coercion to reimpose the "Fairness Doctrine": They are feeling froggy in Dem land, aren’t they?

Schumer on the Fairness Doctrine: Just think of it as regulating pornography posted at 11:56 am on November 4, 2008 by Allahpundit Send to a Friend | printer-friendly He’s making a general point about government’s responsibility to oversee the public airwaves. If you’re willing to concede that they have the power and duty to keep one type of material off the air in the interest of the common good, then at least theoretically you’re willing to extend that principle to other types — like, say, political speech, to ensure “balance.” This clip’s an even better turnout motivator than the Ayers clip , isn’t it? At least he’s only talking only about the ...
Here They Come, Cont.
Weekly Standard Blog —
There are a few liberals who have been mocking the idea that the incoming Democratic Congress, or an Obama FCC, may try to reinstate the Fairness Doctrine, a Truman-era regulation governing political content on the airwaves that could effectively shut down talk radio. This, despite the fact that Nancy Pelosi, John Kerry, and Richard Durbin (who may make a play for Senate majority leader) have all voiced their support for such a rule.
This morning, New York senator Charles Schumer also made the case for the Fairness Doctrine to Fox News: ...

The Worry About the Fairness Doctrine
FullosseousFlap's Dental Blog —
New York Democrat Senator Chuck Shumer on Fox News this morning
Of course, Chuck Shumer’s comments are silly comparing RIGHT Talk Radio and pornography but he may very well have the votes to push another “Fairness Doctrine” on the American people through Congress. ...
Schumer Can’t Distinguish Political Speech from Porn
GayPatriot —
Favoring the so-called Fairness Doctrine which would limit access to the airwaves, the New York Senator opines:
Should the Democrats wins today and attempt to impose this antiquated doctrine, watch for it to galvanize the right. May help Americans see the true nature of all too many on the left, eager to use the government to silence their critics. (H/t Michelle Malkin).
Things to Come
Power Line —
Chuck Schumer defends the "Fairness Doctrine;" he explains that if you can keep pornography off the airwaves, you can dictate the content of political speech:
Schumer appears to make the astonishing claim that if the government can regulate anything, it logically follows that it can regulate everything. Schumer is a dope, but he and his fellow Democrats are probably serious about their threat to drive talk radio off the air. If they follow through, it could trigger one of the great donnybrooks of all time.
Schumer: Talk Radio Needs to be Regulated Like Pornography
NewsBusters.org - Exposing Liberal Media Bias —
Did you know that talk radio needs to be limited on the airwaves just like pornography? According to Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) it does. I kid you not. At least, that's what he said on Fox News Tuesday morning when asked his position on the Fairness Doctrine (video embedded right): Do you think we should allow people to put pornography on the air? Absolutely not. Particularly on television and radio...The very same people who don't want the Fairness Doctrine want the FCC to limit pornography on the air. I am for that. I think pornography should be limited. But you can't ...

In a normal world, this would be an SNL parody. Problem is, these two guys are dead serious Rep. Jim Moran, Democrat from VA, on what’s coming down the pike, We have been guided by a Republican administration who believes in the simplistic notion that people who have wealth are entitled to keep it and they have an antipathy towards redistributing wealth and they may be able to sustain it for a while but it doesn’t work in the long run. Hat Tip: Solomonia Here is Chuck Schumer, pushing the Fairness Doctrine and equating conservative talk radio with pornography, Gateway Pundit says , Of course… This only applies to conservative news organizations. ...
Michele Bachmann: The Threat of the Fairness Doctrine is Very Real
Townhall.com Blog's TownHall Blog —
With Democrats about to take over the White House and control the Senate and House in greater numbers during the next session of Congress, the threat of the fairness doctrine becoming a reality is very, very real. Here's what Senator Schumer has to say about it: According to the Politico ...

No one’s talking about the Fairness Doctrine? posted at 4:00 pm on November 14, 2008 by Ed Morrissey Send to a Friend | printer-friendly Today’s entry in the Los Angeles Times by James Rainey on the Fairness Doctrine presents a confused and contradictory dismissal of the concerns raised by Democratic members of Congress talking about its resurrection. Rainey goes to great pains to dismiss these concerns as a “pigment of their imagination”. Really? It’s a nice plot line, and lots of people seem to be expending tremendous energy fretting about it. But let’s just say that the imminent reimposition of the Fairness Doctrine is, as Archie Bunker liked to ...
L.A. Times: “Nobody” Is Seeking to Implement the Fairness Doctrine
Patterico's Pontifications —
James Rainey’s latest column at the L.A. Times contains the following headline:
Right-wing radio sounds false alarm on ‘Fairness Doctrine’
Impose a mandate on broadcasters to balance their political views? That would be onerous indeed. But memo to Rush: Nobody’s asking for that.
Nobody? Really??
Memo to the headline writer: yes, someone is. Here’s one example:
Ed Morrissey has much more.
P.S. I’m plenty amused by Rainey’s ...
