Conventional Discussion Thread 10 —
Little Green Footballs
New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson just finished advocating invading Pakistan (a recurring theme at this Dem convention), and here’s a thread to discuss the final approach to the Chosen One’s speech on the steps of the Parthenon.
Well, Denver’s Invesco Field, anyway.
Every seat in the stadium is full, and many will be weeping before the night is through. The place is ...
Willie Brown Takes on Invesco's Elevators —
News
Invesco Field is beginning to feel like an insane asylum.
Go up certain ramps and one can only reach floors 3 and 5. And only certain elevators take you to floor 4. Round and round people go and no one in authority seems to know how to get anywhere.
On an elevator ride from the [...]
Mocking Republican mockery —
Daily Kos
Republican mockery of the neo-classical backdrop built at Invesco Field has revealed one thing clearly: They're a dumb bunch. They forgot that George Bush accepted the Republican nomination in 2004 on a similar neo-classical set . The columns were less Greek and more Roman Imperial, but that's a stylistic preference for Republicans. You would have thought somebody in the GOP was paying ...

It may be about six hours away, but hordes of reporters, camera crews and fervent Democrats are streaming into Denver's Invesco Field at Mile High for tonight's speech by presidential nominee Barack Obama .

Invesco Insanity —
Talking Points Memo
Ben Craw and I just arrived at Invesco Field in Denver, site of tonight's acceptance speech by Barack Obama. We were lucky enough to have grabbed the last couple of seats available in the press box.

Trippi Worried About Invesco Speech —
Hotline On Call Part Deux
Joe Trippi hints at Dem concerns about the scope of Obama's Invesco Field speech:
"I'm a little bit worried about tonight's event. I'm worried that it's too big. It's hard to be intimate and connect with the TV audience in that atmosphere and bring it down to earth. It's the opposite of him interacting with his kids."
On Call Aside: Invesco is the whole show. The speech could ...
Murphy on Mount Olympus —
Weekly Standard Blog
Republican strategist Mike Murphy on the visual language of tonight's Obama speech at Invesco field:
"I think the normally shrewd Obama campaign has a blind spot about tomorrows big speech at Invesco field. The Pepsi center is the visual “home” of this convention. Having Obama do his big finish in another venue screws up the visual vernacular of the convention. Turn off the sound, and ...

The stop outside the Pepsi Center was shut down, but I believe it will be possible to take the SUPERTRAIN to Invesco Field this evening. Actually, I mean this afternoon as apparently we're supposed to arrive way early.
Barack Obama's 'Jordan moment:' Invesco —
The Swamp
by Mark Silva
DENVER - Barack Obama will take the field today.
Not since John F. Kennedy accepted his party's presidential nomination in 1960 has a candidate moved from his traditional convention hall to a field for the final acceptance speech. In Kennedy's case, that venue was the Los Angeles Coliseum.
In Obama's case, that venue is Invesco Field at Mile High.
The place holds ...

Invesco Field —
Eschaton
Frankly, my bet is that it was really just a practical consideration . The convention is just too crowded, and if they kept it in the Pepsi Center on Thursday they'd inevitably have to just shut the doors at some point and lock out a bunch of people who thought they'd be able to get inside.
