Finally, a Hollywood movie about veterans that we can all get behind
Sister Toldjah —
As we all know, for years Hollywood has had this obsession with trying to make the American military and the wars it has fought into nothing more than chest-thumping rage machines who maim and kill innocents indiscriminately (remember Brian De Palma? ‘Nuff said).
Kevin at Pundit Review has news about an upcoming HBO movie that will make you break out the Kleenex box as well as fill your heart with even more pride for our brave, honorable men and women in uniform. Here’s the trailer: ...
Taking Chance
Weekly Standard Blog —
In 2003, my friend Matt Burden of the military blog Blackfive published a remarkable, deeply moving account of Marine LtCol M.R. Strobl's escort of a fallen Marine's remains from Iraq. The blog posting eventually found a spot in Matt's definitive book on military blogging, The Blog of War, and has now been made into an HBO original movie. HBO movies and miniseries tend to be superbly written, crafted, and produced -- it appears that Taking Chance will be no exception. Here's the trailer: ...

It’s no less obvious that this film, about a ...

Took A Chance On "Taking Chance"

and left my comments over at Blackfive's place in the hopes that the Phelps family will see them. If you have HBO I can wholeheartedly recommend that you watch this movie, with generous amounts of Kleenex handy. But this is more then a movie about the sacrifice of a Marine, it is the story of America. The America we don't see on our televisions, but the one in which we all live. Too much of the attention in the media is to that 5% that manage to make asses out of themselves and therefore get more then their amount of attention. While it is the story about the honor and respect that is shown to the fallen by the military, a much bigger part of the movie ...
