Video: Stewart skewers the left’s paranoia over McCain’s ads

Video: Stewart skewers the left’s paranoia over McCain’s ads posted at 1:55 pm on August 5, 2008 by Allahpundit Send to a Friend | printer-friendly Credit where credit is due. My only quibble is that he seems to think the paranoia’s in earnest. I’m loath to speculate on which liberals genuinely “see” the supposed subtext and which are dishonestly demagoging an issue from which there’s political advantage to be gained, but let’s just say it doesn’t surprise me to find some of the most reliably cartoonish partisans in the media on board with the racism narrative. Lucky thing for Timothy Noah that he didn’t publish his “skinny = black” ...
Grasping at… straws
Neptunus Lex —
Yeah. That’s it. Straws.
Influenced by New York Times columnist Bob Herbert’s recent claims on MSNBC’s Morning Joe that the McCain campaign deliberately included “phallic symbols” along with images of attractive young white women in an ad attacking Barack Obama to exploit racial resentment, MSNBC host Keith Olbermann latched onto this theory on Monday’s Countdown show and observed that the ad featured “two underdressed blondes mixed with the black guy,” and contended that the ad included “three phallic symbols, two blondes and Barack Obama,” opining that the ad ...
Jon Stewart on Obama's Racial Paranoia
Ace of Spades HQ —
Jon Stewart on Obama's Racial Paranoia Actually pretty funny for once, but then again, look at the monster premise the Democrats served him up. Via Hot Air, also linking Slate's assertion that "skinny" (as in "Obama is skinny") is also now a racial code word for "black."
Jon Stewart Puts The “Racist” Ad To The Test

Where are all the white women at?
RedState: Conservative News and Community —
Who cares, as long as it's NOT in a campaign ad
Not totally safe for work:
What can you say to that? The overlord of liberal news, Jon
Stewart, has mocked the One. Either it wasn't racism, or Stewart
has been killed and replaced with a cunning replica. You
decide.

Playing Cards
Classical Values —
Playing Cards Jon Stewart is not endorsed by this blog. He speaks strictly for himself. And he is damn funny. Let me add that once one of your major campaign tactics hits the comedy circuit it is over. Or as some one pointed out in a blog comment I recently came across, Obama has done more for race relations in this country than any one since Martin Luther King Jr. He has taken faux cries of racism used for intimidation off the table. I'm not sure that was his intention, but he deserves the credit any way. Good for him. Or maybe not so good for him. Depending.

Say Anything —
A Not Safe For Work bit of humor on the Presidential race:
Note to the humorless: Yes, Stewart pokes fun at both candidates. Yes, I saw it. Yes, it was funny! Ask your Mom.

Ridicule the Race Kremlinologists
The Next Right —
Now that it's politically convenient for them to do so, the Left is divining racism in every tea leaf. Kremlinology lives again, but this time it is directed at Republicans. And practiced by jerks.
The only way to deal with this is ridicule.

Responding to Lameness
Sound Politics —
Responding to Lameness The best response to the left-of-center Establisment tut-tutting about John McCain's "celebrity" ad campaign comes to us from Jon Stewart. It's probably rated PG-13 and if you must ask about the "teabag" reference then I'm not going to be the one to explain it to you. If you haven't seen it already, enjoy: Exit question: Has the response from the left jumped the shark when Jon Stewart is mocking it, mercilessly?
