It's called- "In the tank." Yesterday, it was reported that Team Obama was threatening businesses to agree with Dear Leader's anti-business plans or face total destruction at the hands of his pals in the White House Press Corps. Today's gross media bias caught on tape shows the White House gaggle sitting for Bush and standing for Obama: Via LGF Quick Links ...

Bruce spent 28 years in the U.S. Army and he is a veteran of the Vietnam war. He brings a perspective and understanding to these stories that we could never match. Tonight, Bruce told us about Sgt. 1st Class Ray A. Plasterer. From the Army Times,"Sgt. 1st Class Ray A. Plasterer said he hadn t seen a firefight like the one he saw May 10 in Afghanistan since he and his fellow Rangers did their part during the invasion of Iraq in March 2003. All Reporters Rise for Obama?
NewsBusters.org - Exposing Liberal Media Bias —
Patrick Gavin of the Politico put on display an eye-opening contrast on YouTube over the weekend. From February 28, 2008, President Bush made a morning appearance in the White House briefing room and is greeted unsurprisingly with reporters remaining seated.
But on May 1, 2009, when President Obama walks in the room (that would be the "dream sequence" appearance, as an NBC reporter put it), the reporters all stand until he asks them to be seated. You see them rise in the video.
This could be a rather mild outbreak of old-fashioned politeness to the chief. But in my two years in the White House press corps, I never saw reporters in ...

8 Wouldn't it be more honest if they, with a few notable exceptions, just dropped to their knees when Obama walked in? That would more accurately reflect their worship and make it easier to service Him. I'm sure they have to use every granule of their 10 granule self control allowance to keep from doing just that. They sicken me, and they are an insult to their profession. Socialist whores.

Video: White House press corps stands for Obama but not for Bush posted at 8:05 pm on May 4, 2009 by Allahpundit Send to a Friend | Share on Facebook | printer-friendly This one’s making the rounds but I’m not sure why. Isn’t this standard chivalrous behavior when you’re in love ? If The One were forced to trod upon a muddy path, wouldn’t you expect Chuck Todd or Helen Thomas to lay their coats over it for him? Actually, there’s a more mundane explanation . Sort of. It’s a long-standing practice for reporters to rise when the president enters the East Room for a news conference, but that hasn’t been the case in the briefing room. I ...
Obama: school choice is great, for my family, but not yours
Pundit Review —
Obama: school choice is great, for my family, but not yours I don’t blame Barack Obama for sending his kids to an elite private school in Washington DC. Who wouldn’t want to send their kids to someplace better than DC public schools? Why does President Obama take that choice away from other inner city parents in DC who don’t have the luxury of paying any price for their childrens education? This but the latest in a long line of examples of the difference between Obama’s words and deeds. On the campaign trail, Obama talked about supporting vouchers. He also made sure that you knew how courageous he was to take on the teachers union. Here is candidate Obama ,“I ...
The Press Gets Its Victory Bash
Riehl World View —
I'd be less concerned over the media standing for Obama but not Bush if they weren't continuing to lie down on the job just as they did in the campaign. Maybe there's hope now that they have their not so private little victory party out of the way. This rationalization by CBS' Mark Knoller is so contorted, it qualifies as part of the media circus around Obama.
When some reporters stood up for President Obama last Friday, they forgot about the needs of their colleagues in the back of the room as well as the less formal atmosphere of the briefing room. Certainly it was a sign of respect for the president, but not one of disrespect for his ...
Press Corps Standing For Obama And Not Bush Video Debunked
Politics on HuffingtonPost.com —
A YouTube clip purporting to demonstrate -- through press room etiquette -- that the White House Press Corps has a greater level of fundamental respect for President Barack Obama than his predecessor has been making its way around the internet. In the video, the viewer is offered a side-by-side comparison between Obama's interruption of last week's press briefing to announce David Souter's retirement and another instance in which President George W. Bush entered the briefing room. In the former, the press corps stand up. In the later they remain seated. Here, you can watch for yourself:

Is the White House press corps showing more respect for President Obama than his predecessor?
My colleague Patrick Gavin put together this clip of reporters shown sitting down when Bush entered the briefing room, as opposed to Obama last week.
While that looks like proof of better treatment, or at least provides more fodder to conservative media critics, Slate's John Dickerson explains "there are different rules in the briefing room" when the president enters.
It's not that there is a no-standing policy, exactly, but more that the question is unresolved. The press didn't stand for Bush in February but did when ...
For Deadheads, the best week ever
Pundit Review —
For Deadheads, the best week ever I’m a Deadhead. I love The Grateful Dead and the beautiful music they made for nearly thirty years. In college, Spring Break did not mean Daytona Beach or fun in the sun. It meant one thing. A week on the road with the Grateful Dead on their annual east coast spring tour. These epic road trips started in central Maine and included three nights in Albany, NY for shows at Knickerbocker Arena, then down to Nassau, Long Island for three nights and then, if we had any money left, three more nights in Landover, MD. Ahhhh, the memories. The New York Times recently wrote a great article about the Dead and their die hard fans, Bring Out Your ...

Presidents and press protocol
Political Animal —
PRESIDENTS AND PRESS PROTOCOL.... It seems quite a few conservatives are unhappy about a video that's making the rounds , showing the White House press corps failing to stand up when George W. Bush walked in the briefing room, and standing last week when Barack Obama entered the same room. The clip is evidence, they say, of the press showing more respect and deference for the current president than his predecessor. As controversies go, this is pretty silly. For those of us who've watched a lot of White House press conferences over the years, it's easy to remember plenty of instances in which the press corps stood for Bush -- in the East Room, at the Rose Garden, etc. -- ...

Great moments in parenting courtesy of Diana Krall So last Tuesday my six year old daughter finished her third piano lesson. She was clearly loving it and showing quite a bit of natural ability. When I went home that night, my wife and I decided that we needed to get her something to practice on. We were thinking a desktop keyboard, something small to start with. Just for the hell of it, I checked Craig’s List and came across a fresh post for an upright piano. The best part, it was for $150 delivered! Not only that, the piano was tuned perfectly. On Wednesday morning, I took my daughter to school and an hour later, the piano was delivered. Needless to say, when she came ...

Ford Theater and The House Where Lincoln Died If you are a Lincoln buff then you must read Manhunt: The 12-Day Chase for Lincoln’s Killer by James L. Swanson . This book is riveting and it reads like a novel. The book is really sensational. Large portions are dedicated to the assasination itself, obviously, and Ford’s Theater and the Peterson House across the street where Lincoln died are central characters in the story. I had some time to kill yesterday in Washington DC so I did what any good history buff/political junkie would do. Sightseeing! One of the few things left in Washington DC that I had not seen was the Ford Theater and Peterson House. Ford’s Theater ...

Before we got to this weekend's edition of SYSK, we spent a few weeks chatting about the week that was. We discussed Obama’s decision to reverse himself on releasing the so-called “torture photos” and on the use of military tribunals. Yes, he flip-flopped, but what is most important is that he landed in the right place. Unfortunately for Obama, his wise eversals were completely overshadowed by San Fran Nan and amateur hour press conference where she accused the CIA of regularly lying to ...

Lewis on Schroeder on Buffett In the new issue of The New Republic Michael Lewis has a long, entertaining review of Alice Schroeder’s The Snowball: Warren Buffett and the business of life . There is now a long shelf of books about Warren Buffett, but this is the first time he has gone to any trouble to add to it. Reportedly Buffett now regrets his decision–he has apparently put some fresh distance between himself and his official biographer. If so, it’s not hard to see why. As I noted in February , “If Buffet is pissed about the book, I’m not surprised.” Lewis, whose writing on all things financial is always tremendous , continues, Alice ...

Great quotes from two TV anchors (MSNBC?) commenting on Press Secretary Robert Gibbs’ explanation regarding why the White House uses a pre-selected list of reporters to be called on at Obama press conferences instead of taking random questions:
Anchor 1: “I do think Gibbs is right, though. They do notify some people to be in their seats so they can get called on, but I do not believe they pre-vet any of these questions. I don’t think reporters lack the integrity so that they would let ...
