The Swamp —
by Frank James
"It is time to act. As the next presidenrt of the United States, I will."
That's how President-elect Barack Obama ends his weekly address today, a short speech in which he says that he has asked his economic team to draft a plan that would create 2.5 million jobs by the start of 2011 in an effort to give lift to an economy that has stalled.

Acting 'swiftly and boldly'
Political Animal —
ACTING 'SWIFTLY AND BOLDLY'.... Barack Obama's weekly radio/YouTube address was, not surprisingly, focused on the economy , and for those of us anxious to hear about his intentions to help stimulate the economy, the message sounded pretty good. He didn't go into too much detail -- it's a four-minute clip -- but the president-elect outlined "a two-year, nationwide effort to jumpstart job creation in America and lay the foundation for a strong and growing economy." This includes investment in "rebuilding our crumbling roads and bridges, modernizing schools that are failing our children, and building wind farms and solar panels; fuel-efficient cars and the ...

Obama Vows Action On Economy ASAP In Weekly You Tube Address
The Moderate Voice —
One of the changes President Elect Barack Obama has immediately made to nudge the Presidency into the 21st century is to move the President’s weekly radio address into the realm of cyberspace as well by putting it on You Tube as well as on the broadcast airwaves. And it is a master stroke: how many people (particularly young people) are glued to their radios on Saturday morning at a specific hour, and how many people surf You Tube and embed interesting videos on weblogs (such as this) at their convenience?
And what better example of the new weekly You Tube address to offer than today’s. In it, Obama:
1. Says action must be ...
The Saturday Word: Obama Aims for 2.5 Million Jobs
The Caucus —
In his weekly address for broadcast today, President-elect Barack Obama announced his intention to create 2.5 million new jobs by January 2011. “There are no quick or easy fixes to this crisis, which has been many years in the making, and it’s likely to get worse before it gets better,” he said. “But January 20th is our chance to begin anew – with a new direction, new ideas, and new reforms that will create jobs and fuel long-term economic growth.” Mr. Obama said he had “directed my economic team to come up with an Economic Recovery plan that will mean 2.5 million more jobs by January of 2011.” He was short on details, but other comments suggest the plan could be ...
Obama proposes public works and job creation
Daily Kos —
In his weekly address released today, President-Elect Barack Obama discussed his goal of creating 2.5 million jobs by 2011 through public works programs that will begin to repair the nation's crumbling infrastructure and through funding alternative energy technology. Good morning. The news this week has only reinforced the fact that we are facing an economic crisis of historic proportions. Financial markets faced more turmoil. New home purchases in October were the lowest in half a century. 540,000 more jobless claims were filed last week, the highest in ...

Here’s the latest missive from our allegedly “center-right” president-elect:
I have already directed my economic team to come up with an Economic Recovery Plan that will mean 2.5 million more jobs by January of 2011 – a plan big enough to meet the challenges we face that I intend to sign soon after taking office. We’ll be working out the details in the weeks ahead, but it will be a two-year, nationwide effort to jumpstart job creation in America and lay the foundation for a strong and growing economy. We’ll put people back to work rebuilding our ...

Stephen C. Rose: Behind Barack's Steely Resolve, the Idea of Unity, the Capacity to Grow
Politics on HuffingtonPost.com —
By Stephen C. Rose
Barack is ready to rumble, in the face of a White House that is AWOL. As the mind-deficient media has groused with impunity about inessentials, Barack has gathered a complement of solid choices faster than any President-elect in memory.
The notion that because people who know DC will surround him, he cannot bring change, is a cop out.
If you want to fix something, it helps to know how it works.
Barack is about proving out an idea. Like Lincoln. The idea is unity. A coat of many colors. An iron belief in the rightness and truth of unity is the source Barack's resolve.
Barack also has is ...

Obama's Production Tweaks

Before Broadway shows open in New York City, they're often taken for a trial run out in the American heartland to work out the kinks. And with this latest four-minute installment in Barack Obama's pre-presidential video productions posted on YouTube, you definitely get the feeling that somewhere there's an obsessive director making tweaks before taking a more polished show to Washington DC in seven weeks. (The video's down below.)
Some of the distinctive props we've seen before have made a comeback, though with revisions. The John F. Kennedy book set is back, as is the blurry photograph of what I think is Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg ...
