AP - Putting his prestige on the line, President Barack Obama will personally commit the U.S. to a goal of substantially cutting greenhouse gases at next month's Copenhagen climate summit. He will insist America is ready to tackle global warming despite resistance in Congress over higher costs for businesses and homeowners.

Washington (CNN) - President Barack Obama will travel to Copenhagen, Denmark next month to attend a global conference on climate change, a senior administration official told CNN Wednesday. The president is also scheduled to be in nearby Oslo, Norway on December 10 to receive the Nobel Peace Prize. It is not clear if he will go to Copenhagen before or after Oslo. The president was last in Copenhagen in early October, to make a pitch for his hometown of Chicago to host the 2016 summer olympic games.
